TelkomInternet - April account shock

R25.50 per GB that you go over. (which btw is an insane price)
Could be worse I guess, I could only be getting this in 3 months time with 6 months worth of excess waiting. For me it just means money I was saving is now gone. Guess this is a warning to the other peeps out there...watch your local bandwidth.

O, and stop using telkom as an ISP ;)

Dont they send out emails anymore warning you when you are at a certain level?

Unfortunately Telkomsa has, in their infinite wisdom, made a usage email an opt-in choice. Obviously it would be much better for usage emails to be sent as a default, especially those emails warning of limit attainment.

According to the invoice 100.7 and 122.something (it's cut-off on the invoice) which ties up with bandwidth usage from telkom's site

Do they even work after opting in? I haven't been with TelkomSA for about 2 years now, and I still get account update information... Idiots :D

But how can they charge you for january now, they already invoiced you for january

I monitor my usage, and am fully aware that I go over my limit, but I've been doing this for 12 months without being charged. There's no way to justify going over and not wanting to pay for it, but it's also really unethical for Telkom to smack you with a back dated bill, which I'm sure is part of their plan to screw the consumer for as much as possible.

With billing systems it honestly can not be that difficult to bill you on a monthly basis for extra usage, that way users would definitely stop going over the limit after being burned twice (with very small additional costs).

At the end of the day, we're still in Africa, and this is what you get when you have first world 'cities' operating in a third world continent with third world infrastructure and mindset.
