TelkomInternet Capped for March

Is it really so hard for telkom to have a update to date tracker? If AYCE can have a dead accurate counter why can't they? I remember with AYCE, the minute u reset ur adsl it updates .... That was nice
are you complaining..? :)

I am - Its a pain having to go to the SAIX one when you're set up to use the one your ISP is supposed to provide. Especially when it is being counted and you run the risk of being capped anytime after 3gb.

Also capped. :(

The 7th of the month was also the capped day last month.
So what do you do for the rest of the month? 2nd account?

I'm capped today too - but don't know exactly how much I used as my telkominternet usage report is still saying 0GB used!! I think it was in the region of 7-8GB though.

I'm capped and my usage tracker says Combined Total: 2.69GB

Assuming that you have a 3GB account, I would say that you have a legitimate complaint. I would capture as much "evidence" as possible. PDF output the TelkomInternet usage page. Screenshot the error trying to connect with the ADSL account. Log a fault with Telkom. Get a reference. Record the phone conversation. Post it all somewhere, like flikr.com, and let the world know about it. Make printouts and attached it with your next Telkom payment (minus whatever you could not use).

www.hellkom.co.za have a section on how to deal with Telkom complaints too.

Log a fault. Complain. Don't accept it.

See my posting above.

The DSL will be for Home use, not business. I use to have a Cable connection in the states, its pretty much for general use.

What I use my dialup connection for at the moment, which I want to do with DSL aswell:

1) Gaming - World of Warcraft, Warcraft, Counter Strike Source
2) P2P - Limewire only
3) Browsing
4) MSN/AIM Instant Messages
5) FTP, but like 50kb files, just minor updates and stuff to mrg.za.net (So FTP doesnt really count)
6) Streaming radio
...

It just seems TelkomInternet is capping at a less amount every month, so I am not sure if I want to go TelkomInternet. Should I try them and switch to Cybersmart for example after I notice they cap very low?

Thanks for help in advance!

Yes TelkomIntnernet is capping at lower and lower every month. I would not recommend them anyway.

For your gaming i take it that you are going to need international bandwidth? Openweb's new 10gig/30 VPN accounts cost just R349 which sounds really great to me. Speak to Mr Beep for more info about that. They will be over the IS backbone, however, and not a day goes by when someone on this forum complains about some aspect of IS dsl. Almost more so than Telkom. I am on IS as well and i personally have had no problems with it...

So i would go with Openweb and see how that treats you. It worked really well for me when i tried a free 24hr account the other day.

My usage report from telkom today finally shows something other that 0GB - i'm capped and my usage for the month was 4.29GB -- time to cancel i think.

Yeah i am starting to wonder just how low the cap has to sink in order for people to stop using telkom?!

Yeah, but CAN you stop? We all know that if there is one thing more difficult than getting Telkom to give you a "service", it is having them remove it. Welcome to "fax hell".
