TelkomInternet stats gone crazy

Seems there is indeed a problem - my reported usage on adsl.telkomsa.net jumped from 251mb to 3.1 gigs in a day (also several consecutive days with no traffic reported, definitely not the case).

I got a "warning...exceeded cap...cutoff..." email, called them (10215) and pointed out the userstats.adsl.saix.net stats tell a different story. Spoke to friendly Richard who told me I could ignore the warning, there "was a problem with the site and stats at the moment".

Now I have negative usage!!!!!

I received the follow usage for 22nd and 23rd. 23rd combined usage is less than 22nd. At this rate I will have a credit usage

How the hell is one supposed to manage ones account with this kind of rubbish? Now if Telkom would only apply the same principle to my account ....

Hehe...imagine my surprise this morning when I got that stats usage mail. I have only downloaded 1.5gb this month...it jumped to 8.3gb from yesterday. Luckily I did not get the blacklist threat. And yes, it's a telkom fcukup!

Besides - the stats problem was a ISP one (TelkomInternet) - the network reporting seemed to have been immune to the problem.

lol, I started replying before you fixed 35 to read 3.5, got all confused and thought I misread.

Yeah, you're correct about 3.5 being about the max down. I shouldn't have counted upload as well.

Definitely something wrong there assuming there weren't any concurrent connections.

lol - that one got away from me - 35gb would have been quite impressive

I guess they're just rectifying some accounting errors. Just looked at my stats on TI's site and they've done the same to me it would seem.

Effect on business confidence

This would be funny if it were not quite so pathetic.
Being in a reseller to TI or on any high volume usage charge based product must be a nightmare... Your bill must be like playing the lottery, only there is no chance that you'll be on the winning side.
I wonder if the DTI have got round to considering this scenario - they are supposed to police weights and measures...
The TI stats have been unreliable since day one and there is no sign that Telkom is going to be getting a clue anytime soon.
Maybe a hefty fine wil prompt some action.

I never look at the Telkom stats, only SAIX.

I am using "NetLimiter 2 Monitor" it is free and does not seem to cause any problems. At least that way I have an idea what bandwidth I am using.
