TelkomIternet capped users

little bit

800%+ is not a little bit :D

:D ;)

Well I use to pay R199 for 30GB so R250 for 28 is not too bad. But now I have to have another account to fall back on.

It is a very simple and elegant capping formula that is being used. Every month your previous download total is divided by 1.4 and this becomes your cap for this month. Eventually when you reach the 3 gig cap that you paid for, your actual cap will only be 1.4 gig, but your stats at SAIX will be inflated 1.4 times so that you don't feel that you are being ripped off.

Ps. Please send the PhD to Steve White as he gave me the idea for this research.

Doesnt work when you consider that i did less than 30 gigs in november and about 58 gigs in december.

satire You must be the exception that proves the rule. Enjoy it! /satire

Hi Guys

This was my first month with Telkom internet and I got capped on 26.5 Gb (hardly downloading life).

But for the price I ain't complaining, just gotta learn to behave i guess.

ok, so it seems like most if not all are capped above 20GB on various days, I wonder, did you cross the 20GB mark in your last day before being capped? In other words, did they just moved the cap to 20GB instead of 3GB and left the reconnect time on 24h giving you opportunity to exceed the 20GB with few more GB in your last day?

58 - that's a whole lot of downloading:) . How much were dowload and how much were upload? What's your line speed - 192?

Monthly Graph for December 2005
Downloaded : 32.8827 GB for the month
Uploaded : 22.7464 GB for the month
Total bandwidth used : 55.6291 GB for the month

Ja Im on 192.
Maybe the secret to getting over 20 gigs is generous seeding.:p

Wow - that's unbelievable. If my calculations are correct on a 192 line if you let it run 24/7 for 31 days with no downtime and the perfect line you should theoretically only be able to do:

Downloaded : 61.30 GB for the month
Uploaded : 20.45 GB for the month

Yeah thats pretty interesting specially about the uploading, but i've pretty much always got some or other torrent seeding so it sounds about right.

my 192 kbps line is about 25% faster than what it is suppose to be for download, and for upload I am not sure but I think it is at least as much faster, so increase the numbers by 25% :) you get ~75 + 25 = 100GB total

OK.

I have *multiple* accounts, and *multiple* PC's on *multiple* lines.

Normally run them concurrently, flat out, until an account gets Capped, then its onto Number2, etc...

Loading up SASA as we speak...

Account 1 (Non-TelkomInternet) = 0.32/10gb
Account 2 (Non-TelkomInternet) = 4.175/10gb
Account 3 (TelkomInternet) = 47/3gb (CAPPED)
Account 4 (TelkomInternet) = 52/3gb (CAPPED)
Account 5 (TelkomInternet) = 22/3gb (CAPPED)
Account 6 (TelkomInternet) = 0.3/3gb (NOT CAPPED)
Account 7 (TelkomInternet) = 0.2/3gb (NOT CAPPED)
Account 8 (TelkomInternet) = 0.0/3gb (NOT CAPPED)
Account 9 (TelkomInternet) = 0.0/3gb (NOT CAPPED)

In case you are wondering, all of these are at an office. They are not at home. They are on a 1meg line, and their sole purpose is the transmission and receipt of high-quality, high-res images from designers, publishers etc... around the globe.

So before any of you start bitching about how I am "abusing" the system, stop for a second and think about how badly I'm getting f-d in the a. I have to pay for each of those DAMN accounts.

I use torrents at home. That is a whole other story ;)

Laterz.
