I know this has been talked about before, but I have some questions here, I wonder if you guys could help me with

Im talking about the Xbox 360 deal with 2 controllers and 5 games, where they charge you about R108 per month.

Telkoms offer seems to be two different offers they have.

I went in to one of their branches and they had one of the core models , with 5 classic games like Gears of War, Spiderwick Chronicles etc. These are teh games advertised on their website offer. However when I went in store , the poster and pamphlet they gave me showed a Xbox 360 arcade, with 2 wireless controllers and teh 5 games that come free with the arcade (Pacman etc)

I know the arcade has HDMI port while the core does not, but is the HDMI port necessary to get high def on my LCD TV? What other outlet port do both machines have? Is its much riskier going for the core?

Which deal would you go for if you had the choice?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

The Core is older stock (the cheapest you get by the supplier). I feel if you look after the machine, no matter the version, it will last.

You will get the upgraded cooling system in those machines though. They've been "re-furbished" in that sense.

If you buy the HD AV cable (I have stock) or the VGA cable, hi-def display is possible on your LCD TV.

If that's what you pocket can afford ... why not? :D

im with Maestro, the added cooling of the Telkom refurb ones *ive check inside of one :P * is just great, take care of one with extra cooling, and im sure RROD wont ever be an issue!

Get a cheap Cell C contract at game or something where you get a R3000 voucher free with a rubbish phone. You'll spend the first R1999 or so on the Xbox 360 Arcade and you'll have another R1000 over to spend on games or whatever you want.

If I'm not mistaken the Telkom contract is 36 months and the Cell C contract will be 24.

As a matter of interest , how much are those cables?

And thanks for all the input guys.

Ive been to 5 different Telkom direct shops today. Only one had stock and it was the last one they had, a core model.....all other is sold out :(

Starting to think about that cheap cell contract, lol

I got myself the Telkom deal.

Cant complain as yet,

The games included is good.

So I will be able to get HD with my Xbox core?

Sure, you just need to get one of the HD cables, either the component or VGA, depending on what you want to use it on (Telly or Pc Monitor)

Take2 has reasonable prices on some 3rd party ones.
