Telkom's refusal to fix

So, I thought my line dropping issue was related to that fiasco Telkom had a couple weeks back, turns out it's not (well who knows 100% for sure). I have had 6 or 7 months of perfect internet and phone here but now the last 2 weeks, line drops every 3-5mins and my phone cuts out at will, all after 6pm - every.single.night.

So anyway, tech was out on Friday, spends some time here and tells me there is resistance/noise on the line. Why now after months of bliss, who knows. So he will get the cable crew to do some repairs ...... 8am this morning, I get an SMS that it's been resolved. Funny, I spent the night with the same crud and 5 mins after the SMS, the line drops, so obviously not resolved at all. How the hell they can close faults like that is beyond me. So I phone again - Pinnacle call center nogal - and get treated like an idiot. Oh it's the modem/phone/cable/alarm/etc ...... talking like you would to a 6 year old. I lose my rag a bit and tell him to bloody well re-open the fault and what do I get? He will log a fault, I mean the last one only took 4 days for a tech to come out and 7 days for them to close it, so why not start all over again

I just wish I could get some damn proper help in this, seriously.

/end rant

P.S - the unhelpful chop I just spoke to actually has the nerve to tell me he sees there is noise on the line at the moment he's talking to me .... like hello, proof that you closed an open fault, twit!

It's well known that Telkom closes open faults regularly, probably to make their stats look better. I've personally had many 'Your service has been restored' sms's during the day, got home & still didn't even have dialtone.

2nd fault closed/resolved ....... 2nd time a tech has not come to the house, instead just phone from the exchange and says it's been fixed. Yesterday I had no phone or net at all for 6 hours because it was being 'fixed'.

Yeah, that's 100% fixed huh ..... I'm sick and tired of these moegoes now, surely someone has to step in and realize what BS this is and damn well fix it. I mean, the fault has to be at the premises, surely but hell no, too lazy/stupid to go to the clients premises.

(p.s - time/date is funky from a reset)

Don't make a complaint about your adsl line qaulity, phone them and report bad voice line quality.

I went through the same and I know your pain. My line was running perfectly on 10mbps for almost a year and then suddenly I had SNR issues.

Did you try reducing your sync speed? I had to reduce mine to 8mbps to get my line stable again. I left it like that for about 3 months and brought it back to 10mbps again. Now its fine again.

Also what you can try after logging several faults is to visit the Telkom technical yard in your area. Bring you closed faults numbers with and explain to someone your problem and log a fault with them their. If you don't know where your local yard is, ask at Telkom store in your area.

All in the space of ........ 7 minutes. And this is after 3 faults have been 'fixed'. How the hell does a line keep syncing at a different speed every time it drops, seriously, what the hell! Pathetic.

As was said. Don't report an adsl line issue. Report a voice line issue.

I get that all the time with business lines. It drives me insanse.
My favourite is when someone tries to tell me that the fault is with a router or something unrelated, its hard to resist telling them that you know more about their network than they do.

Still nothing. Cannot get hold of any management (convenient eh) and I just get the same "The cable is being worked on" reply every time I phone for an update. So week 4 already and no fscks have been given.

Update:

Was eventually told that proper repairs are being done on the cable in my area and given a date ............ so today I get the same SMS with a new date. Is this seriously how it's gonna go down, postpone until I give up

Following message sent to : Telkom has concluded its investigations. The cable in your area will be replaced and the restoration of your service is targeted for 2013/07/29. Wed Jul 17 15:13:09 SAST 2013

Send a PM to TelkomZA with your ADSL number and fault refs and ask him/her to follow up.

We have exactly the same problem here where we running on a 6Mbps line but it drops randomly to 0.45Mbps and then 30 minutes later comes back up again with latencies in Durban up to 350ms, have been fighting with Telkom to replace the cable for the last 2 years now all they keep telling me is that their is not enough people using the internet in the area to justify replacing the cable I wonder y. Also getting the open ticket, close ticket fiasco must have logged about 40 faults in the last 2 years and still sitting with the same problem

I can't win .........

Line went from every 5 mins dropping to about once every couple hours for the last couple days and I'm resigned to the text about the cable being done in the area by the 29th. So, along comes a tech a short while ago, was here for about an hour, says he doesn't know what the cable laying is all about ......... facepalm. Anyway, he fiddles and fuddles, says he found a problem in the house, fixed it and tada, job done and leaves.

My line since has been dropping every 5 minutes again :(

Seriously.

Oh and my Attenuation down is now 50+, that's bad yes?

I know this is going to achieve nothing at all but I've missed an extremely important phone call now because of ineptitude and I've had it ......

I just want to know, from anyone, anyone at all how after more than a month of BS, that when my phone and adsl stabilises slighty to where it's not out of order every 5 minutes, a technician can just come to my place and leave after 40 minutes leaving me with zero phone service whatsoever and a line that drops every 5 minutes again. How is this possible!

I want to know from anyone, anyone at all how I can phone their crappy call center and be told that there are so many different notes in my 'file' that they cannot make heads or tails of it. How is this possible!

I want to know from anyone, anyone at all how I can get called by 9 different techs/managers/car washers and have some of them tell me completely different stories from one another ..... to being called a liar by one because at that moment in time, they are calling me on a phone that has intermittent service. How is this possible!

How I pay this company almost R2000 every month and how I get such bad service and how I have lost money because of this dragged out fault but if their bill is not 100% on time, they will have no worries suspending my service ...... I just don't know how.

/end futile rant
