Some chop needs training because that sure as shyte aint fixing anything .......
 
I have the same crap as you. Except my phone line is now working except ADSL will lose sync at random times (realisticly 50+ times a day) at any time of the day even if it's 100% synced at my correct 1mbit speed I can not always use the internet. I have to manually remove the cable out of the router and put it back in for it to resync. Another funny thing is picking up the phone will drop the sync as well - and no it's not the pots filter as I've tried a brand new one too.
 
Bought myself a weeny bit of airtime to post this -

Since having the issue 'escalated' - I've had my phone line disabled yesterday at 3:30pm and now this morning, my internet was cut off at 9am (confirmed that at 9:01, when it went off, that's when the tech put it off) and left off because he found the cable fault they have supposedly known about for 3 weeks already. Don't ask me why he just left me with no service whatsoever or didn't bother fixing my voice line, ****ty training I'm guessing. So here I sit, no voice and no internet and was explicitly told about 20 mins ago that "It won't be fixed this weekend or even Monday at all, so don't get your hopes up" and then had the call dropped on me when I asked for a supervisor. So moral of the story, don't get any higher ups or reps involved because it will turn out worse for you.
 
Two days with no phone and 1 day with no net ....... Still not a peep from anyone. The least they could have done was send someone to just put it back on, I don't care if it's intermittent, it's better than nothing at all. Still seems like sabotage to me, complain too much and they will just cut you off to shut you up.
 
And we enter week 8 ......... I just can't fathom how this:

There has been a cable break in your area, 50 pair IG cable of 65 metres.
This has been escalated to be resolved as quickly as possible. Once this has been resolved your fault should be resolved or attended to.

is supposed to account for cutting my phone on Thursday and my internet on Friday? Yes, my intermittent issues have been ongoing for almost 2 months because of a cable fault, although why it's been 2 months who knows but to completely cut off everything smells of something else. Just to add - my neighbors on both sides and behind have phone and internet ..... intermittent, because cable fault ( :rolleyes: ) but I have none.
 
** Update **

I'm happy to report that after 2 really, really motivated misters got involved - my issues are being resolved, very speedily. Adsl is back already and a technician will fix the phone tomorrow. I wish I had the fortune of interacting with these gentlemen weeks ago but nonetheless, it shows there are people at Telkom who care about the customer :)

My heartfelt thanks to them.

Not even a week ........

As of 12:50 today, no phone line and no internet again ........ just wth is going on :mad:
 
This all sounds too familiar...

In late May there was an Eskom power cut and after getting back online, my line started to drop. About twice or three times a day. I was using a Billion router from Telkom.

I called Telkom to log a fault, and they suggested that everything appeared fine on their end. And suggested that I contact my ISP to see if it could be them. I contacted the ISP and they said everything is running fine. So I called Telkom again and was advised that it could be the router, so I forked out R600 on a new TP-Link router and gave it a try... Same problem.

I then contacted Telkom a second time, and had a tech come out and look at it. He said there was an issue but that he resolved it. Later that day I had the exact same problems, my line kept dropping every few hours (I am able to connect again once it drops).

I called Telkom once again to report the fault, and had another tech come out, I think it was in late June. He came and tested and also said there was an issue between the house and the exchange. He never returned after that but I got a text saying the fault had been restored.

I continued to get the same issues after that. Where my line continued to drop.

I logged another fault this week for it, and a few hours after logging my fault, my ADSL line died completely, no signal at all. A tech came and he sorted out the dead line, but the line dropping has continued since... Three times this morning alone.

I should add that if I manually dial up on my computer (as opposed to dial through the router), the line doesn't drop. But when the router is the one connecting as it should - the dropping occurs. I have tried several routers with the same problems.

Have you tried dialing up from your PC and seeing if it stays connected? Like mine does. It would help if I could find someone else experiencing the same problem, as they told me that since the dialed up broadband connection doesn't drop, it can't be port or line. But I've already established it's not ISP or router. Can't see what else it could be.

Is should add that the ADSL sync doesn't drop, only the connection itself, ADSL status remains up all the time. Occasionally the router will even say the connection is still up though all traffic will die.
