I must say that today Telkoms response was really good.
At 10h30 I reported my faulty line.
At 11h00 Telkom phoned and at12hoo the tech arrived 20 mins later he was finished and everything worked great.
Thanks to Frans he was great to have here, its a pity all of Telkom couldnt be as proffesional as Frans was.
And all this on a SAT morning

Yeah Right

I've cancelled my adsl this past Thursday a week ago and they have not even processed the order. I'm heading right back to isdn 64 - if they ever get to me.

I would have thought it would go a lot quicker in the rural areas.

Hey you know what - i might score a new fast 3 gig for this new month because of their laxity. I'll surely use it.

I agree with SK33T. I phoned telkom friday to report...well that my phone line was hissing at me[:(]. Their techie arrived by 9 pm only two hours later. Okay so they havn't fully solved it 2 days later but its not for lack of trying. Come on how many companies would respond to a night time call out so promptly!! Telkom's technical team are amongst the best...now their management on the other hand could use a little "reorganizing"...

Agreed. I called at 10am on a Saturday and someone was there two hours later. I call that impressive service. I would have preferred they had sent an experienced technician, but he seemed to get the job done in the end. But never-the-less I find the response time impressive.

For a counterpoint, Telkom has been unable to fix my gf's residential telephone line since Tuesday. I have phoned numerous times, followed up on reference numbers, even spoke to the Telkom technician on the street Saturday morning personally. He reckoned her number was one of 5 he had on his list for that day. An hour later he had vanished. As of now (23:56 Sunday) it is still not operational. I was informed by the technical support centre that this sort of problem usually takes up to 72 hours to fix. Say what? It can't take that long to have a new phone line installed surely?

Sorry, but my experiences with Telkom have been exclusively ***. The second I can cut them off from benefiting directly from my needs I will do so.

Add to that their extortionist rates and unbelievable uselessness at everything but taking money and they are a sad organisation indeed.

I am further incensed that private people (ie Telkom MDs CEOs and the rest of the fat cats high up in Telkom) are profiting from an infrastructure paid for by our tax monies. Bet you they didn't pay nearly what the cost was to build it all in the first place!

wife and I will be cutting our telephone line because we tired of having to pay so much money just for rental alone.Im just going to use my cell phone nad my adsl @ work for internet. My wifes from spain and over there our rental for adsl is nothing and having a phone is not a luxury like it is over here.Iv been waiting for years for the second operator but i dont think its gonna happen anytime soon.
