Telkom is calling people and offering them ADSL - and trumpeting the benefits etc and then they reckon 'we please need the fax as soon as possible so that we can get the service installed".

They reckon it's a special offer and that it's only valid if they send the application form immediately. Oh, it's a 2 year contract.

These people have targets to reach to get their bonuses so this must be a cozy, devious tactic to get that money at the end of the year for that jacuzzi and sports kit for the X5.

I got a phone call from the friendly Telkom lady a few weeks ago offering me adsl.... she ended the call in a hurry when i began ranting about Telkoms low speeds, high charges and c(r)ap service.. needless to say I will not be one of those signing up lolol.

Thet phone when Noelleen (3Talk) is on, then i get upset, the i yell, then i hang up, and i watch 3talk, to find the adverts just came up as i sat down.

I've just noted that they've expanded their marketing efforts to the envelope in which your bill is sent:

"The fastest way to download life. Experience life in the fast lane with Telkom's DSL fixed rated products. Order Telkom DSL today, phone 10219. (Terms and conditions apply)"

This is stuck on the front of the window envelope. Seems as though their calling people is part of a broader marketing campaign to increase their client base. The idiots don't realise that telephonic marketing will generate only a fraction of the numbers that service excellence would realise, and merely results in umbrage.

Trying to increase the customer base prior to the SNO getting up and running? Do they know something we don't? Maybe the new CEO brought along some interesting inside info from the SNO...

If they are trying to force people into a 2 year contract, they must be worried :D About bloody time. Now lets see who sweats now, more and more people are being educated about Telscum and their monoply.

Damn this is good

I was in a meeting when the call came through asking if I wanted to save money, I just wanted to get them off the line and so did not feel like having a go.

Afterwards I thought of saying, yeah I am going to save money and sign up to the SNO ASAP....

Then I thought, a little bit afterwards, maybe better I did not, I might have got placed on some special victims list or something

Yeah right Telkom, it will take 2 seconds to fax, and only 3 months to install if your lucky

I'm moving out of my place tommorrow and wanted the person moving in to take my line as they expressed an interest and wanted DSL.

Telkom talked her out of it and told her it was easier to get a new line installed !

She also signed up on the 2 year contract for DSL192 - unbelievable.

This is after I warned her about contracts - I also went to the trouble of getting a form for her to fill in.

So, Telkom obviously can convince some people to part with more money than they have to - a phone transfer is free as far as I know.

Then again, she's probably worried I'd leave her with a big fat phonebill, something I would personally never do, but others would. The same kinds of lowlife that leave their rented accommodation filthy with bags of rubbish everywhere.

another victim fallen into telkoms web of lies, and many hours listning to that wonderful Telkom onhold music while trying to get support.

Telkom "we are currently experiencing large call volumes, your call is important to us"
please stay on the line

If I've ever had a call answered to that 0800DSL DSL number in under 2 minutes it would be something. And their system has no like.. queue thing. I phone on the one line, held for five or six mins, dialed on the other line, and the call was answered in about two mins, while the FIRST call was STILL ON HOLD!!!

Drat, just tried it. What annoying music and no telephonic prompt for "other" DSL problems, like capping, shaping and price queries.

verry funny...........Im available at the moment.

That's Right... Telkom does a lot of advertising NATIONALLY...Then when I react to their call for the ADSL service... I get the familiar saying "Sorry Mr ??? your application has been cancelled" WHY? " Your area does not have the equipment"......It's like Offering candy to a kid then saying"Sorry you can't have it cause you're not tall enough"...
