Does anyone know how to telnet into a Mega 100WR router - the Telkom one?

I've got web admin access with username 'admin'. I can telnet into the IP address and get a login: and password: prompt, but it does not accept the web admin password.

OK - most unixy boxes have different accounts for web vs command line access. I'd expect to get in as 'root'. But there does not seem to be anywhere to set a password for root.

OK solved it. You get in as 'root' but with the same password as for 'admin'.

You end up in some weird restricted shell, with only a few commands available ... but this is interesting ... if you try to run another telnet, you get invited to spawn a shell instead. This is by no means bash - also very limited - but at least supports ls, cat, ping, tar, etc.

The initial shell calls itself textui and allow modem configuration and retrieval of stats, and so on. I want this for automated retrieval from a script. Success!

I miss my telkom router - it was destroyed during our power cuts and I ended up downgrading to a dlink dsl-2460u. You can't do much with the 2460u.
