Telnet into UTD

Hi

I know this has been mentioned previously but only tested on the old white UTD

How can i telnet into the Black UTD modems using an ethernet cable ?
It works using USB , by doing the following ...

telnet 192.168.250.10 1234

However i just wont work using ethernet cable.
I know the iburst modem uses an IP of 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.250.10 but telnetting on both IPs doesnt work

Ive tried using a straight and crossover cable but it doesnt work.

Did you set the IP of the device that you are using to connect from (ie your computer) to an IP on the same subnet as the UTD?

You have to communicate between IP's on the same subnet for it to work - but this is setup automatically by the drivers when you use the USB connection.

Out of interest - what do you plan to achieve by telnet'ing into the UTD??

Yes , ive made sure my NIC's IP is on the same subnet as the ibursts' IP.

I need to test the Signal strength using ethernet.I want to test signal about 30 meters away from my PC , which happens to be outside in my drive way.Ive got long network cables + switch.
 
Why don't you just use UTTraceStar??

That exactly what it was designed for - and it even comes with a pretty interface and graphs and everything :D

Agreed here, use Tracestar, it's far easier than trying to reinvent the wheel anyway... ;) :)
 
Sorry guys:

Ftp problems still causing trouble.

Ontop of that somehow the source files were corrupted... is the only way I can explain it.

I will have to revert to ver 1.0.9 but will make whatever adjustments I can.

I was hoping to move over to .net version 2 now seems like a good time to do so.

Will keep u posted.

The corruption is very strange it seems that all configurable properties of the ui were simply removed.
