I am not in the mood to phone teslcum today, so I need some advice from you guys.

We use telscum as our main ISP and we have two registered telscum email addresses.

Since Friday last week the smtp mail server has been acting up, not sending email as we'd like. smtp.telkomsa.net, I googled the myadsl forum and changed the smtp server to smtp.saix.net, that sorted it.

Now the bloody pop3 server is not working anymore, pop3.telkomsa.net, if I try to use pop3.saix.net it asks for some login information, I have already supplied it , but it keeps asking.

Does anyone have an idea of what's going on? Did they change the mail servers and what are they now?

Thanks people
tera ;)

Do you know how to configure the SAIX pop3 server? That would help a lot man ;)

pop3.telkomsa.net

It is just as well that you did not phone to find out what is wrong. 10215 is perpetually engaged.

I too am experiencing problems with this server, and judging from the overload on 10215, so are all other Telkom email users.

I wish that Telkom would post problems of this nature on their web-site so that we would know the extent of the problem and its solution ETA.

It is apparent that we long-suffering fools using Telkom and iBurst email accounts for email backup purposes must now find a third alternative to ensure that the mail gets through. This sounds almost like the early days of air-mail and the pony express of the wild west!!

I feel your pain Mze, I don't have such responsibilities like you have, I just want to check mail for business purposes, but I'm glad you said the lines were engaged.

There's nothing on the SAIX notice board either, figures!

I got through to 10215. There is a recorded message something like this:

"We are experiencing problems with our mail server. We apologise for the inconvenience. Our technicians are working on the problem."

Mail server

Have the same problem(s), namely a constant request to supply my login information, cannot get through to Telkom, and am tired of their professional incompetence.
