Aaargh telskum . I've incurred 1.18GB blended usage while I thought i was downloading on local because you scumbags reset my modem and my IP went from 165.blah to 41.blah. I only just noticed now fsckit :(.

Huh? How is that a bad thing?

I assume you know that ALL usage counts as blended at first till you get capped. Then it goes over to local only.

Noy to burst your bubble, but local-IPs can also use the 41.x.x.x range.... (but it still has the 165.x.x.x default gateway). This is according to experience and SAIX themselves.

Assuming you have TelkomInternet? How does resetting your router then change your IP from local to intl?
Unless of course you have a local acc and an intl acc and had the local acc temporarily in your router but not saved, then I would understand.

Erm, it's quite simple actually. I was still on a local only 165.blah address from last month. I deliberately left it that way cos I was still downloading from local sites when the new month began.

Cos it gets an address assigned by DHCP, and since it's a new month and I'm no longer capped, I go back onto 41.blah.

We all caught up now?

Nope. If you are with Telkom internet and are local at the end of the month, you will stay like that into the new month until the next time you reconnect.

Yup, bastids!
Purchase a 10GB local only account for R70 from somewhere, and use your Teklom one for international only.
RouteSentry FTW!

Yeah, I'm with you there stoke. Thing is, I shouldn't have to spend any more money seeing as I'm entitled to 20GB local with my 2GB int and telskum are screwing with my gameplan to use it properly :(.

IMO telskum's willful misinterpretation of "local shall not be subject to the cap" makes this connection reset business their responsibility.

Yes, but the opposite happened in this case. I *had* been capped the previous month and *chose* to stay on local when the new month began because I was still downloading something from a local site.

TelkomInternet does not 'reset' your modem because of month changeover. Either your line was resync'd or something else happened.

If you stay on a local only connection in the new month what local bandwidth will you use? The old months one or the new months?
