Terrible interntional connectivity

International browsing on my WA Saix account was basically impossible throughout the day. Could barely use Google. It's as if they port shape HTTP as well when it's supposed to receive priority.
Yet Telkom says there's nothing wrong with the SAIX network.

SAIX now completely dead here (Stellenbosch). Emailed Telkom tech support,
and they say that "port connection was reset and redesigned at the exchange" - this did not bring any improvement whatsoever.

I have swithced to an IS account, and all is dandy now. I spoke to a few fellow SAIX clients in the area, and everyone is complaining about the speed.

greets

Tim

Yes, they treat it as an individual issue - they test your linespeed and re-create your port at the exchange. That does absolutely nothing for this specific problem, since it's a network issue.

Exactly the same situation here: SAIX dead, switched to IS account so all is fine.

My SAIX account is with WebAfrica; WA Support mentioned yesterday that a lot of people are complaining about the speed on SAIX and they've logged the issue with Telkom/SAIX but Telkom came back saying there was no issue on their network at all.

I've been monitoring the SAIX noticeboard and there's been no outages listed but there's obviously something wrong on the SAIX network if so many people all over the country are complaining about it. Telkom is acting like they're ostriches with heads in the sand.

WA logged a fault on my behalf with Telkom but I have my reservations about that because they'll simply test my linespeed and nothing more, instead of focussing on the network problem. I just hope that everyone that complains here, also contacts their ISP support because of the complaints go up, surely Telkom will realise eventually that there really is a problem.

My problem is that my secondary account is a 626 IS account with Axxess, therefore only from 6pm to 6am. So tomorrow I'm back on non-working SAIX. So I'm looking at IS prepaid accounts at Axxess but in other threads people are complaining about the semi-shaped IS accounts so I'm not sure if I want that either.

Just wish SAIX would sort itself out because when it's working properly, it's definitely better than the IS account, in my opinion.

Same in EL Telkom 4 Mbit int. is just crapy. Downloading with 30 KB/s a few min ago the DNS server went dead so google etc. would not resolve IP was super fast tough.

Same story here, using Imaginet normally around 500-650ms worst case in Wow but atm I'm anywhere between 850-1500ms.

Tonight was my first night in a new guild so the trial isn't looking good because of ****ty South African interwebz. gg

damn...WoW phoenix 5655ms lag!? is it just IS or are saix same problem? web browsing came to crawl now feels like dial up

Mine is spiking alot, its the spikes that killing me in WoW. We need more ppl reporting this to Saix so we can nail this problems or else we will be having it for a long time

Ok so as I mentioned 3 posts up, I'm with Imaginet and going through the same stressful setbacks in my online gaming as everyone else, so my question is this;

What can I do or who can I email (pester) to draw this to the appropriate peoples attention?

Thanks in advance.

Just send an email to your ISP's support desk and explain the whole problem to them, indicating that a lot of ppl are complaining about the same issue and tell them to log the problem with SAIX (assuming you're on a SAIX based account). Provide as much info as you can about the problem.

well i have tried to explain it (axxess never replies and the one time they did the guy just said its not there fault:sick:) i email my ISP and open tickets, all they saying is that they forwarded it too IS an is awaiting reply....telkom on the other hand sayed they don't see any problem nor has anyone complained

I am getting the idea our ISP's don't really care if we are unhappy with the level of service or quality we are getting from them... or TELKOM/SAIX/IS don't care about our **** speeds because they know there's no one else we can turn too, we are dependent on them

i mean cant they see the latency is extremely high and half of there subscribers who has high speed dsl line aren't running at there full potential and not getting what they pay for?

True words hey. Ive found that 7/10 times its futile to phone them, because as mentioned above, the only thing one can hear is

"we'll look into it" -> which almost never changes a thing
"everything looks fine on our side" -> line must be buggered, phone telkom
-> "Line test is fine, must be ISP" -> /facepalm
a)"line is not fine, let me log a fault" -> yay see u in 2 weeks
b)techie - "your line is fine,must be your computer" -> repetitive /facepalm

I wonder what will happen if they phone me for my payment and i say tell them "everything looks fine on our side"

Well I emailed Imaginet and explained the problem and got a response asking me if I could send them traceroutes from the Wow server I play on but the next reply I got was this

"Unfortunately there may not be much we can do until IS has found completed work on the critical outage."

So yeah :(

WA informed me today that Telkom said all my tracert's are fine, consistent etc. So no problem. Of course, the fact that half the people I know can't browse at normal speeds on SAIX accounts, seem to be completely irrelevant to them.

Earlier this morning I had OK browsing speed on intl sites and I actually thought the problem has been resolved but now it's dead slow again. Tomorrow it will be a week that I've basically had dialup type speeds while browsing. Totally unacceptable.

"Unfortunately there may not be much we can do until IS has found completed work on the critical outage."
Critical outage? Any more details on this? Has IS acknowledged that there is a problem?
