Terrible new line install

Long story short got a new line installed a few days ago at apartment building in Claremont, terrible SNR and attenuation (see attached). Think the technician may have stretched the cable when he was installing. Normally I'd be fine with 6/7Mbit speeds but I'm getting intermittent disconnects. If anyone can point me in the right direction before i phone Telkom and they point me in the wrong direction I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

*Also if this is a problem they can't fix will I be refunded for line installation?*

Edit: Also when i try to do ADSL line verification on the telkom site I get ''Your request for ADSL failed.Your DN number and your order number are unknown. Please try again." This is weird because I'm currently using the line.

I see you are on GDMT, is the router set to auto modulation or did you force GDMT?

Also you are on Fastpath which is good but no use on those stats.

ASSIA might kick in and help it a bit.

Also find out what neighbors stats are like to see if you are too far from the exchange or its a line fault.

His line attenuation is 27dB down, he should be easily syncing at 10Mbps. Open a line fault.
@OP, your random disconnects are because you are syncing at 6dB SNR, the moment you drop below that ASSIA will re-establish the connection in order to get better stats, thereby you will be experience a disconnect.

tbh I'm not even sure where the modulation setting is, i certainly didn't change it from default... Here are some other things.

Edit: Most people living here don't have lines installed as its a new building. It also offers fibre and I'm feeling like a complete idiot for not getting that instead right about now...

Edit 2: Found the modulation setting and have changed to auto.

Edit 3: Lol it set it to G.DMT anyway

What router is that, it is quite fancy.

I just noticed your attenuation stats are very good, log a fault as one cant be better than the other.

Erm, yes it can. Your upload attention is usually lower than your download one.

Asus DSL-N14U, its pretty neat. Has the same UI and most of the same features as my RT-N56U at home and it was only R799.

@Johnatan56 Do you think it is then not the distance from the exchange but rather the bad wiring job done by the technician in the apartment?

Edit: Saw something about transmitting fake a SNR, would that help with regards to the disconnects while hellkom sorts their stuff out?

is there any bad wiring that is visible which might be a reason for your bad stats, and NO Telkom will not refund you for installation but will repair your line if there is fault.

Yes, I am at 42dB attenuation, which is ~3km and sync at 10Mbps. You're half my attenuation, you should easily be able to sync at 10Mbps.
The second option won't really work as it's a line fault you're dealing with and not ASSIA.

Okay cool. Thanks for the help everyone, will log a fault tomorrow and see what's up. I really suspect it was a bad wiring job since the technician had to run the cable from a closet type thing on my floor to my apartment as the developers did not install wires into the apartment directly.
