Terrible speeds tonight

Hi Shaun

Turned modem off for 21 mins, Still the same

Would having 2 modems on one account affect this procedure?

Well, my speeds have been fine even though I've been capped, but what I've been having a little trouble with is signal strength variations. The last week or so I am constantly having to adjust the position of my modem, and it's rare that I manage to maintain signal about 98%, usually it's around 92-94%. I seem to maintain speed just fine, downloads have been coming down at 7-8kBs as expected from the throttled connection, but the constant need to shift the modem is really getting on my nerves.
I'm in the Overport / Morningside area in Durbs, and there's not been any construction, nor installation of any RF devices in my area that I know of, or anything else I can think of that would affect my signal quality like this.

It's not a really problem given it's not really affecting my quality of service, but any suggestions - other than installing an external antenna thanks :p - to resolve this would be appreciated.

i would prefer 30kbps as throttled!

I've not wanted to say anything in case I jinx this, but it's funny you should say that.

The last day or so, I've been getting around 3-400kbs speeds out of my throttled connection, and I've certainly not purchased additional data. It's variable, goes up & down like a yoyo, as low as the expected 64kbs, but peaking as high as 480kbs, with 350kbs or so being the average by the look of it.

Is this happening to anyone else? Has there been an announcement about an increase in throttled speed I've missed? Are iBurst running stress tests to see how the network handles the load?
I mean, I'm really enjoying this, I'm managing to get down some much needed software updates & so on, but I'd rather not get a nasty surprise in my bill at the end of the month or anything.

Let's hope you're not on PPU (Pay per use) - otherwise you're getting a free ride. :)

Heh nope, I opted out of PPU very fast - R1k per gig, WTF?! o_0

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!, you shoudn't have mentioned it, Now iBurst's sure to fix this issue :(. I too have been experiencing high download speeds (500kbps +!) even though i should be limited to 64kbps. Oh well, it was good while it lasted:D

We said something about it a couple of months ago, they didn't seem to do anything. It was amazing while it lasted :D

Dunno.

For two days now my desktop modem gives a red signal, then turn yellow then green and so it goes on. It just sucks. Dunno if something is wrong in Paarl again with all the rain.

Hi Kaaskop

Still experiencing the issue. There was an outage in the Cape which was resolved.

Drop me an SMS if you are still down.

Thanks
