Had to take an uber to collect my car after service and had a the worst ride ever.

First of all he seemed like quite a short guy, but the way he had his backrest down, I wonder if he even could see the road properly. After the first minute of driving I already decided 3 stars.

He had his phone next to his gearshift I think. (couldn't see it as i was sitting in the back left). He was more looking that way as on the road with the effect of him swerving constantly and braking abruptly and the speeding up like he is Max Verstappen while swerving the road.

So I had to rate him a 1 star.

Who else had an experience like this and is there a way you can cancel a trip when you think it is not safe to continue driving with this driver.

Out of all the dozens of Uber trips I’ve been in, I’ve only felt unsafe in one Uber. When I did that one star review, their team phoned me back to check the reason and confirmed they’d take up the dangerous driving with the driver.

I’m curious whether the OP booked an Uber Go? I’d recommend sticking with X if you can.

Here in Cape Town as well, the quality of the Uber cars is shocking. The interiors are worn out, dents in the bodywork, the interior vinyl comes off in your hands, suspension is shot, petrol guage always on reserve with the light on, worn out tyres and terrible driving. The worst is when the seatbelts don't work, that's a deal breaker for me. It's happened a few times when I've been with my wife and step-kids and we've ordered an Uber and one of the seat belts doesn't work. When that happens I tell the guy to stop the car and cancel the trip, and then we order another one. I've reported tons of them, never seem to have gotten any response from Uber though.

I only order uber black, I find anything below that the cars are normally on their last legs and not safe. Extra cost but safety first.

Even the Uber Blacks are starting to become dodgy. I've been in a few Mercs and BMWs that were well past their sell-by date.
