I'm looking to get some UPS's for my PC's, mostly for surge protection, I don't need the PC to remain on for the duration of a power cut, but a few minutes to shut it down properly would be nice. So with that in mind who has used Tescom UPS's? They are quite a lot cheaper than APC but there isn't much info on them, Esquire stocks them but not much info is provided, are they reliable? Can I trust the surge protection to work?

I have installed APC at numerous clients, but you pay for name, i have 7 clients were i've installed Tescom's in diffeent config. I would anyday buy Tescom for myself. For one of my clients ive installed sollutions on 9 places to keep network and voip network up for 9 hours! And in the server room a dual power solution with 2 battrye packs each (very scalable)

Thanks, did you use the Tescom Apex series? If so does it have RJ11 ports to protect against surges on the phone line?

I only try to use APC smart UPS series. I find that nothing locally touches them.

Well excluding people of course.

Yeah but the smart ones are too expensive for me, it's nice that they can shutdown your PC for you if no one is home when the power goes off but I don't really need that, I'd just like a few extra minutes of runtime so that if I am actually using my PC I can shut it down properly and otherwise the surge protection is really important, in this case its then just down to APC and Tescom.

I mainly use the ST Series, i see 2 rj11s, but never used it. Then I use the Inverex Range for low but long usage purposes.
