Tesla EVs launched in Morocco

Tesla officially launched its first electric vehicle (EV) dealership in Africa in Casablanca, the capital of Morocco, in early February 2026.

The company has also rolled out a dedicated section on its website for customers in the North African country to place orders for the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV.
 
Awesome. I wonder if BYD and friends were there already. Would be interesting to see how it competes.

Why would you want that awful contraption when we have a wide choice of superior Chinese EV's available for a fraction of the price? Give me a BYD Dolphin over a Tesla any day. We're not getting Starlink anytime soon and we certainly are not getting Tesla here either. Just forget Musk and his silly contraptions.
 
Because we use taxes to punish the citizens so that ANC cadres can feed from it.

The people who buy Chinese EV's are actually serious. Maybe three people would actually buy a Tesla if it launched here, like the twelve people who would actually subscribe to Starlink.

With all the guys going solar and having spare power, the fact that vehicle to grid would be great to addition to load shedding and full self driving getting close to 'done' I, at least, would really like to get a Tesla! But there are no dealerships here, right? So could import but then how would you keep it maintained/fixed if there are faults/damage.

Looking for experts in how to MAKE it happen?

I'm sure existing dealerships etc. resist, but Chinese models have managed to break in. What would need to be done to make a manufacturer sell in SA?


Ps: yes I know they would be expensive...
 
Morocco is an African country only based on the fact that they are on the continent. They are effectively a European market in all other respects due to the proximity to the EU mainland.
 
Waste of time. Their factory in Germany is below 40% production. Every car is a massive loss

I believe they're more ME than EU, bit your point remains valid, they operate very differently to the rest of the continent they are on.

even Moroccans will tell you they are not African. I know, been there 20 times.
