Tesla is worth less than Ford

Tesla's market cap includes the solar panel, energy storage and other stuff, no?

Pretty sure their stock price is more based on sentiment around those components than the actual cars they make - renders the comparison to other car companies a bit moot.

It's not just that though - there is clearly a kuk ton of hype influencing their value. They can hardly produce any vehicles and yet have an insane valuation. People are assuming they're going to be yuge one day.

While I don't necessarily think Tesla can't reach their aspirations, I don't see why the established manufacturers won't be able to build fantastic electric vehicles for when the market is ready for mass adoption of EV's. Tesla is going to find the EV space getting intensely crowded with amazing products in the coming years and that's where I have the most doubt about their ability to stand out.

15 year old vehicle company with 4 models (3 available for purchase), which has sold 300,000 vehicles, is worth less than 115 year old company with 6.6 million vehicles sales (2017 alone).

My gosh, they've uncovered our secrets!

Pretty much this.

Ford should be ashamed that their market caps are even comparable.
