Hi All

My ADSL contract ends Feb next year.
Vumatel(open access) will be have completed laying fibre before DEC16, will then proceed to get them to install at home.

Is there a way I can 'test drive' fibre (without breaking the bank) before my ADSL contract period ends?

Not really, unless you go to somebodies house and test it there.

VUMA lays down the fibre in your area, but when you decide to take up the fibre, there is extra installation that needs to happen. That is bringing the actual fibre into your home, the cost of that is R1710. That includes the CPE device, and all the fibre they need to lay inside your property.

Once the fibre is installed in your house, choosing your ISP is as easy as selecting it from the VUMA portal, and waiting 15 minutes.

cheers for above, yep, that is the part I wanted to check whether there was any leeway :-)
