I took my MTN E367 modem back to MTN three times for replacement as I was sure there was something wrong with it. Then I figured MTN choke this R149.00 per month for 2Gig promotion.

Then I ran some test on speedtest.net with 4 modems and three sim cards. The Vodacom is my work Pay as You Go sim, the Gerhard one is my MTN 3G sim, and the Riaan sim is a MTN 3G sim supplied to me for this check by the MTN office manager. The MWEB is my house WI-FI 512k uncapped with 4 computers connected.

Well my tests results are clear that MTN is messing with us with these specials! Just to post this i had to fall back to my Bandlux Vodacom Broadband as MTN does not have coverage (again)

How do you reach that conclusion? I think the answer is in your very next sentence:

Does Vodacom simply have better coverage than MTN in the area where you did the tests?

It really depends on the area you are in, because MTN data (we have a few 2GB packages, and the MTN 8GB 'uncapped' option [running 10 PC's]) rocks in our area - I have a constant 7.2Mbps connection whereas Vodacom users here are running at bits per second, giving constant timeouts and a really frustrating user experience.

Well, then it means MTN can not give me what I pay for based on my location? So FlatspinZA pays the same as me, but with a 7000 times faster connection? Why do I even feel more cheated now?

Unfortunately that is the nature of wireless. Did you check the MTN coverage map before you took out the contract?

You can try logging a coverage complaint, see here.
