Testing EDGE Coverage?

As I mentioned in the Vodacom forum. I am looking for an interim solution for connectivity until Telkom installs my line. The cell c usb data card seems to be a solution.

My question is how can I test if I have EDGE coverage before I purchase it?

Currently I can borrow a Nokia 6230i which supposedly has EDGE support and luckily the owner is a Cell C subcriber. How would I go about using this phone to test if I have EDGE coverage in my area?

Do a online speed test, while online with the phone.. at

If u get below 70kbps or 8kb per second +- Then yur on GPRS only..
If u get 120kbps - 150kbps +- yur on edge..
