Testing oil to determine kind ?

Is there a way i could test the slight oil leak i am having to determine where it's coming from.
My vehicle leak cannot be inspected visually without taking most of it apart, so now i'd like to try and take oul from the dipstick and a sample from on top the gasket to try and compare the 2 and see if it's the same oil or gearbox oil.

Gearbox oil stinks like a mofo.

Smell it, if it doesn't wreak of anything you have ever smelt, then it's normal car oil.

ok so maybe it's normal car oil ? i didnt smell anything, it leaks just a little, little plop on the ground each morning, perhaps it is the sump gasket after all, i really hope it is, i might have mistaken but i think i might have a seen a reddish tint to it ? it's black but i might have recalled a reddish tint when it dripped, my coolant is green.

Oil levels not seem to be lowering (but perhaps its because it leaks so little ?

If it's the sump gasket then the oil is mixed anyway? If it smells like gearbox oil then the oil seal on the clutch side of the gearbox is gone.
