Nothing changed except come November you'll be able to transfer your account to another provider and that there is a loophole they are closing which allowed one to escape estate tax once you die.

why not up the limit's by inflation at least? I suspect it's because majority of the uptake has been by the more affluent market. lets hope for next year

They just increased capital gains tax to get more funds from the public so it would be counter productive to increase the limit and allow people a bigger saving. Hardly worth increasing the annual limits by inflation which would amount to about R2000. They'll probably wait another five or so years and increase it to R40k or something (keep the numbers rounded).

Nah, I think they'll increase it next year.

The lifetime limit maybe in 5 years.
