Thailand

You still living in 2019.
No vaccinations necessary.
Marijuana has been legalised and still legal until they gazette the changes again.

Hepatitis A, Typhoid and Tetanus

unless you're living in 1850.

Then by all means take drugs in Thailand... this should be fun to watch on the news <-- I said drugs, not marijuana that's a herby weed, can't really get addicted to it

You don’t need to show any proof of vaccinations son.
Once again, marijuana has been legal for the last 3 years. There are probably more 420 shops than 7/11’s currently.
This will be year 6 for me here, but hey, what do I know. 😉

there is always someone...

remember :

1) vaccinations
2) passport validity

Then just shop around for flight tickets, and use trivalgo etc to find a hotel

3) don't even think about trying to get laid there or do drugs! or have a sex change...
Ive had the anti as*h*le vax but it doesnt seem to work 🤭

HI all. Looking to travel to Thailand in 30-60 days.
I see the flights alone are almost R38 000 for 2 return. So I assume its cheaper to use a travel agent to do entire booking as I see trips for R18 000 per person ex jhb which incl 7 days accomm. Or is there a better way to book it yourself?
Im with Discovery Bank but the fights there are R18k per person anyways....
Help !
Share your travel knowledge please.......
Don’t worry about the flight costs, the happy endings you get in Thailand more than make up for it.

Prove me wrong.

if someone said I am going to a Nigerian jungle what would I need. Then someone said, hey they have very high malaria so recommended is to take anti-malaria pills etc, then also the water and food is pretty **** so best you take hepatitus and typhoid vaccine just to be 100% safe.

There will always be some dog ear chopping person who says "hey boet I've been there and I didn't take it, just klap it boet"

go get hep or typhoid and then you'll say "maybe I should have taken that vaccine which only takes 5 seconds"

Lol what? :X3:

Remember:
1) Passport validity
2) Get an international driving permit at your local AA. Driving a scooter without one will cost you a lot in fines.
3) Travel lightly. Take only hand luggage (preferably just a rucksack and small day-pack/bag) and only buy a big suitcase (or two) to fill up with stuff from Chatuchak market (over 15,000 stalls) a few days before you leave.
4) Download the transport app with all the Bangkok bus routes to save kakloads in transport costs.
5) Get laid.
6) Do drugs.
7) Stay at hostels to meet people and not be lonely.
8) Be friendly and introduce yourself to as many people as possible.
9) Don't drink tap water no matter how hung over you are.
10) Buy the green "sketolene" mosquito spray and carry it with you at all times.

I have been living here permanently and the one of the major concerns currently is dengue fever.
But hey, if you enjoy your vaccinations so much, then why go half way, do it right or don’t do it at all.
You will need malaria, encephalitis, rabies, and leptospirosis.
All I can say is good luck to you son.

Question re. marijuana, wasn't there talk of tightening up of the regulation, or is it just that, talk?

Also, as I understand it, you can't smoke your joints wherever you feel, only at home or certain weed shops have lounges.

Yes, your right, seems they want to tighten regulation again and only make it accessible to those who will have a medical reason for it.
You may also not consume marijuana in public and most condo’s or hotels also have signs saying that you are not allowed to smoke inside the rooms.
But, most of the 420 shops have a back room where you can go and smoke if you want to.
*Most* people also stick to the rules here.
With the new female PM that just got elected, one of her cabinet members (previous PM of health) invested large amounts of money into growing and cultivating MJ, and we have a feeling they won’t criminalise it again soon.
Weed shops are still making a killing here.

This, and check for an Adam's apple first

Going in about 30 days.
What plug is there to charge my phone with.
Hope there is wifi at places.
I see somewhere you are not allow to enter a temple in shorts. I believe we are going to visit one, but that is not the main purpose of the trip.
I hope google maps work there in English.

Yeah, we all know what the main purpose is.

Don't forget to use protection.

2 point plug is very common, you’ll be fine.
WiFi is across the city, they are 50 years ahead than SA.
At most big temples, they also hire scarves that you can wear to cover shoulders or use it as a “dress” to cover your legs.
The basics, respect the locals, and enjoy your trip. It’s life changing

I charged my laptop with the SA two-pin charger without issues. They will make you cover your legs up, yes.

Google Maps is fine, it is whatever language your device is. The names of some places might be in Thai, or trans-literated even.

Pick up a local SIM card at the airport, problem solved.

Or get one of those eSims for travelling before you even leave.

When you get to a restaurant or anywhere, just look around for the wifi pass, normally its printed and stuck on somewhere, then enjoy blazingly fast free internet, this was the biggest surprise for me when I got there many many moons ago, they are not stingy with their wifi

Just be careful accessing sensitive stuff over public and free Wifis, always use a VPN if you are accessing anything you dont want others to see
