Whenever things go wrong, threads pop up slating service providers. When things are going fine, despite the odds (Seacom issue), no one seems to take the time to thank their service provider for making sure they are not affected. ( which is why Afrihost threads are scarce lately) Since the whole Seacom issue started, I have only experienced 2 - 3 days of intermittent connectivity.

Thanks to Afrihost for coming up with a backup solution that has not affected me in a negative way. My downloads have been strong, browsing with no problems and satisfied with connectivity since the whole Seacom thing started.

Of course I am not a 24/7 downloader... (and on a 384 line), but since the Seacom crap started, I have only experienced 2 days of crappy connectivity. They came up with a strong backup solution.

Well done guys!

Same here I also only had a couple of "intermittent connectivity" as you accurately put it, my awesome ping is back. Only thing I don't like so much is the SMS messages freaking out my aunt when I am burning her cap ^^

p.s. Gaming is a joy as well, but its a pitty when I host a local game the other players get 70ms latency, why can't we have 20ms or less? :P

Have to agree...had 1 or 2 days international issues, and then back to normal. They using the SAT3 connection while Seacom is being sorted out. Second month with Afrihost and awesome so far...keep it up!

Afrihost - please inform you ADSL support staff that you have a backup solution in place. The guy I just spoke to insisted that the only way to get connectivity was to use the proxy. Which is not the case. I have been using prepaid WA for nothing.

I can't say the same for Afrihost. I am on 4MB unshaped ADSL Power plan with the worst speeds thinkable. Their call centre are always very quick to tell you that as a Capped user you are not throttled in any way. I wonder if a 0.15 Mb/s download speed is quick in there eyes?? Also if they say that they use SAT-3 as a backup then I can only laugh. SAT-3 dont take you all the way through USA to your europe destination. Afrihost is a hosting company, defnitely not an ISP.

Thumbs up from me. Had very little interruption over the 'Seacom' period, though I'm using mostly after hours and w/ends.
