A few days ago I was about to rent a movie from Box Office (SU insisted) and thanks to the non-seamlessness of the procedure I had enough time to think about WTF I was doing and thought better of it. Thanks for stopping me from giving you more of my money, Multichoice. Good looking out.

It's a bit of a pain, I admit, but I wouldn't want someone to rent 10 movies when he's visiting me for a day or two without me knowing about it, so I think the SMS thing is at least a bit of security.

Maybe you should explain? Strange - I found the process very easy... Just had to send an SMS?

I sent the SMS and received the reply " We are not able to process your rental request as there are insufficient funds in your BoxOffice Account. Please add funds to your BoxOffice Account (cash/cheque/EFT) or use the credit card option & SMS a new rental code."

Silly me figured they'd just bill the rental to my DSTV account. Mind you, I have 2 DSTV subscriptions so this gave me time to reconsider giving them more money.

Yep, I think there are two options - prepaid via a Box Office account (must upload funds from Credit Card), or post-paid, which is added to your monthly DSTV account (I use this option).

The only **** thing about box office is their selection of movies.

Using the SMS/credit card option takes all of 1 minute longer than just pressing a button.

Another option is when you set the monthly debit order for your subs, your box office accounts is also open ;) meaning you can hire movies waya waya and they bill you along with your Monthly Sub... :D
