Not really, the idiots disconnected my 100% working line and connected it to someone else. So if I phone my own number now someone down the street answers. We told the telkom guys who where working on those parts of the line when we noticed the mistake.) This was just before 4. They gave one look on their watch and said it s 4 so they're going home.

So now I have no phone, no adsl and someone else is going to receive all my phone calls for the weekend (On the weekend I get a lot of overseas calls). F... u with your ****ty attitude telkom.

Took care of that. I have block call on my phone line which I remotely activated (although I had to go through telkom call centre as the number to dial for that does not work from cell phones somehow, so they had to call it for me so I could activate it) Don't want any surprises at the end of the month. They might just have fast ADSL if they didn't have it allready, but if they locked their adsl to their own number they might be out of luck.

I sympathize. What an irrrritation.

But I also feel really sorry for Telkom. This is not the kind of problem anyone wants - not customers, and not Telkom managers.

The root of the ptroblem is State ownership and control. Telkom management have no choice in what politically-inspired employment practices are foisted on them.

Some of the best technical brains and skills in SA are in Telkom, and they weep and cringe at this sort of idiocy.

So I appeal to you, get Telkom out of the State, and the civil-service couldn't-care-less employment practices and attitudes will quickly be weeded out. Or they die. Either way, State regulation of telecomms is a nonsense while the same State also owns the biggest player.

In the final analysis, State ownership, management, control and regulation is the ultimate source of your problem.

In a different way, Telkom is also a victim, though I know that's no comfort to you.
