Hi all

Basically my internet connection died around 9pm last night (No sync, no phoneline - just dead). Called Telkom around 10am this morning to report the fault. Got home around 5pm and guess what - Line's back and working 100%.

Thumbs up to Telkom this time round.

If I were someone else (bunch of new guys) I would be sarcastic and say "it shouldn't have gone down in the first place )

Glad it's sorted bro ;) give credit to where it is due.

Telkom should be able to detect down connections and fix them automatically but are too cheap to implement such a system.

im just interested to know...

when a phone line goes completely dead, what's the cause of this? does it mean the cable at your exchange has fallen out? or the port could be faulty?

It could be a bad line or a malfunction at the connectors at the telephone pole. I've had at least 5 dead lines where my adsl works fine, because the phone still works on an analogue signal.

You can just report it, they'll do a test and fix it. It could be at the exchange, but I highly doubt it, or more people would be effected ;)

because my 4 meg problems started the exact same way quovadis describes his scenario, only when my line was 100% the next day, suddenly my 4meg was completely screwed, i havent synced over 2 in a week, and when it gets close to 2, it just keeps desyncing down...

i was thinking maybe they stuck me in a faulty port or something.. but who really knows anymore :/

i wish my phone line would die again, and quovadis's fairy tale become my own :P
hehe
