China today urged foreign reporters to follow police instructions during the Olympic Games, a week after a Hong Kong journalist was detained while he covered the final sale of Olympic tickets.

Wong, a photographer with Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, was detained for several hours on Friday after a scuffle with police.

Wong’s detention raised concern about China’s pledge of complete press freedom for foreign reporters during the Olympics, further exacerbated this week by news that it has censored some websites for reporters at the Olympic media centre.
