The new PSL season got started last night, with the MTN 8 cup quarter-finals:

Wits 3-1 SuperSport
Orlando Pirates 0-1 Ajax

Tonight's fixtures:
19:30 Mamelodi Sundowns vs Bloemfontein Celtic Lucs Moripe Stadium
19:30 Kaizer Chiefs vs Maritzburg United FNB Stadium

The league season starts on Saturday. This year's teams:

Ajax Cape Town
Bidvest Wits
Bloemfontein Celtic
Chippa United
Free State Stars
Golden Arrows
Jomo Cosmos
Kaizer Chiefs
Mamelodi Sundowns
Maritzburg United
Mpumalanga Black Aces
Orlando Pirates
Platinum Stars
Polokwane City
SuperSport United
University of Pretoria

All 16 teams play each other twice, once at home and once away. The MTN 8 is only for the top 8 finishers from last season. Later in the year, all 16 teams play in the Telkom Knockout. Early next year, all 16 teams, as well as lower league teams, play in the Nedbank Cup.

F**king Pirates...!!

I needed a good start from you guys..this needs to be the season where we get back to the top. I am very keen to see Tinkler stay on for a long period and hoping our young guns will shine this year

I think I am playing Super Bru for the 2015/16 PSL. Not sure if anyone would be interested in creating a pool for MyBroadband?

They really have to win something this season. The CAF campaigns do take it out of a team though. I am so glad to see SA coaches at Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns, first time in the PSL era. Hopefully Tinkler can hold onto his job, all PSL clubs are quick to fire coaches.

MyBB pool up and running: Superbru

No we really do have to win something - and would love it with Tinkler at the helm

It did take it out of the team, but its also a motivational issue. Had it been another derby, the guys would have rose to the occasion. They need to start pitching up for every game..

If we want to compete/win on all fronts, we have to show that we have the squad to do so

So the yo-yo team is back up? I wonder if they'll work to outdo African Warriors.

Jomo is going down at the end of the season. He's also pimped his team out again this season. They are playing at Olen Park in Potchefstroom, with the long ago announced move to Parys yet to happen.

Awesome game last night (Chiefs/Maritzburg). Ended at 5-3 to Chiefs AET for those who didn't see it. And Downs lost to Celtic on penalties.

The Chiefs game was amazing. Chiefs were 2-0 down at half time, and fought back for the win.

Celtic and Sundowns drew 1 all, and Celtic advanced after winning the shoot out 4-2.

Chiefs better work on their defending. It was atrocious. And drop Bukenya while they're at it, he was all at sea.

And that miss by Shabba!!!

Platinum Stars 0-0 Sundowns
Wits 2-1 Ajax
Polokwane 3-2 Celtic
FS Stars 0-1 Black Aces
Chippa 0-0 Chiefs
Golden Arrows 1-0 Tuks

Maritzburg and Jomo Cosmos drew 0-0.

Last night's match between SSU and Pirates was stopped in the 63rd minute, as the floodlights failed. As far as I know, all 2010WC stadiums require 2 back up generators, so I don't know why they weren't used.

The last 27 minutes will be played today at 12pm, with SSU still leading 1-0.

I had a good chuckle when the sports guys were discussing the SSU vs. Pirates game. Only in SA could this happen, or maybe other parts of Africa too. Maybe Asia in places too. Heck! Who cares!

As you said cr@zydude, where the heck are those generators? Or did the premier pilfer it for his home?

Not to excuse but floodlights have failed more than once in an English premier league match (twice involving MU) I think the last was last season.

It does happen in other places, but it is still embaressing for the PSL.

The game ended without anymore goals. SSU win 1-0.

It's the MTN 8 semi-final first legs this weekend:

Saturday
20:15 Ajax vs Wits Coetzenburg Stadium, University of Stellenbosch

Sunday
15:00 Bloem Celtic vs Kaizer Chiefs Free State Stadium

Both fitst legs ended 1-1, which sets things up nicely. The pitch at Coetzenburg was a disgrace though.
