Hey Everyone , A bit late but this is just what i needed. Jumped on the scale today and was a bit shocked :wtf:-

I am considering trying out the fitchef offering to try and get started as we have 2 young kids and its a huge mission to cook healthy. Especially as my wife is trying to gain weight as she is breastfeeding. I seem to have done all the gaining :crylaugh:

When you say trying out Fitchef, do you mean the whole shebang with shakes etc... as snacks? Be aware the main meals are really small... I weigh half your weight (male, 1.67m) and I found them too small! Therefore really costly compared to what they are giving you. If you add some sort of low carb veggies with their meals then perhaps it could be filling enough, but then that also half defeats the point of buying their really expensive plastic wrapped frozen meals.

For sure FitChef is too little calories. But, great if someone wants to drop the weight quickly. After a while, you no longer feel the hunger

Honestly, I'm to scared to come near a scale... it's was national beer day on Saturday... so I did. Also bread and schit... I am ashamed.... I'll do better this week and coming weekend... I promise. Please don't hate me.

I went to PE for the weekend for a wedding. Managed to stick on the wagon without any regrets or disappointment which I am stoked about.

My cheat event will be from 20 March as I am going to Cape Town for a wedding and mini holiday and will allow myself a little bit of naughty things...

When I hit 100kg's on 30 April I decided thats it! I installed myfitnesspal on my phone and set my goal to lose 1kg/week. I ate whatever I felt like but stuck to my calorie/kilojoule limit per day.

When I got to 95kg I started running and overdid it a bit by runnning 17 days straight without taking rest days in between. My knees started to get sore so I stopped running and walked 5km/day for two weeks until my knees felt better again. Since then I run 5km every second day started cycling 15km on the other days. I usually rest on Sundays.

The exercise is just to make me feel good and keep me motivated as weight loss is 90% diet and 10% exercise, as they say "you cant outrun a spoon". My initial target weight was 78kg as this is wat the UK's Notional health service website says is my healthy weight for my lenght(177cm) and age(42) it states a healthy weight range for me should be between 58kg and 78.6kg. I am quite stocky built so I chose the upper limit :D My goal was to see my sixpack and at 78kg it was starting to become visible but not clear. So I adjusted my goal 75kg. That is where I am now and my sixpack is visible at this weight.

My kilojoule limit was 6200/day and I never felt hungry. Now managing my portions is second nature and I know the kilojoule content of most foods. I weighed myself every day and it felt really good each morning when I entered my new weight into MFP, I also kept and excel sheet detailing my progress. I am am now stable at 75kg and maintain a approximate daily kilojoule intake of between 7000-8000kj.

Some days I might not lose weight or ever gain 100g but you should never eat less than 6200 kj a day as that can cause your body to go into starvation mode and will be counter productive wrt weight loss.

There is many different ways to lose weight and everyone has to do what works for them, but the simple formula of eating less that your burn works well for me.

Hope this will motivate some to push through it, as it is really hard sometimes.

Well done on your achievement. Abs out at 75kgs, on a 177cm frame and you don't lift weights?

Thanks, no weights I did some sit-ups and crunches at one point and lifted weights a few years back. Everybody has great abs, they are just hidden:D

I have read that weightlifting is pretty good for weight loss as muscle mass burns calories fast.
