The Alfa Romeo 4C Thread

If I'm spending R1.3m on a car, I'd hope it to be have better then a 177kw 1.8T engine ...

And I'm scared of Alfas breaking.

That aside, looks good!

Beautiful car without doubt, but I would still go for whatever Porsche the money could buy. It may be down on performance but more practical for daily use

Why? It is on par in terms of performance with at least some of its competition in that price range - only had time to check 0-100 but it matches a RS5, beats a Porsche 911. Remember, this is the cabriolet

Would spend a R1 million on a Citi Golf that runs with a RS5?

By the way, Porsche 911 is a full range - 25 models. I'm sure at least half of those are quick

Is the Alfa 4C based on the new MX-5? Heard it was going to be.
If it is why wouldn't someone get the more reliable Japanese based car for peanuts in comparison. Okay it doesn't have italian styling but the new one is very pretty.

The 4C is quick - 0-100km/h in 4.5 sec or so ... think the Mazda doesn't have a performance version

I just dont understand, what does the size of the engine have to do with it if the car is still able to perform similar to its rivals?

In my opinion, and I'm an Alfa fan, but even I wouldn't buy the 4C as my daily commuter, it's a car that begs to be driven.

As a daily commuter it'll kill you because the seat offers no thigh support, the car has no power steering and hates bumper to bumper traffic. You can't go on holiday with it as the boot can store a gym bag or laptop bag. It also has the nasty habit of tram lining at higher speeds, but Alfa is doing a recall and fixing the suspension for this.

What it does do well is give you a fun driving experience. It turns heads and the engine is raspy and pops nicely. The carbon fibre trim is epic and the car clocks in at just under 1 metric ton. For such a small car, the cabin is remarkably spacious too.

Source: I've driven it twice.

No it's not; the 4C has an exclusive carbon fibre tub. The new (current) MX5 will underpin a new upcoming Alfa Spyder.

Yep, better to buy an Ariel Atom in this case, more car less body.

Well there we go then, cheaper more reliable and practical. One should wait then.
