The Android in your car

Is it tomorrow yet?

"A government report finds that major automakers are keeping information about where drivers have been — collected from onboard navigation systems — for varying lengths of time. Owners of those cars can't demand that the information be destroyed"

It's called "convergence", and it's converging on you!

I don’t really care what happens to my privacy, but what I don’t want is me being a custom build target when it comes to marketing. Imagine advertising popups on your car displays or an anonymous GPS voice saying, “Mavericks next right, 100m”.

The only reason I said Google being mentioned within the privacy debacle tomorrow is that they are today in question when it comes to all matters privacy, especially within Europe. People then tend to ignore the other players in the market… this is another topic.

My problem with this collection in personal details is that the aim is to limit your choice by persuading you to selections your unique human characteristics made, playing with the mind is disgusting, and in the end though sales is sales.

I won’t appreciate being studied and mentored in my car.

PS, you don't have to wait for the car manufacturers to get Android in your car.

I however do understand that the latest QNX CAR developments taking place do include native android compatibility, problem however is that this will normally be exclusive to expensive cars. The new Mercedes CLA45 coming later have an custom designed PlayBook designed to support all Jelly Bean apps and will be open to all navigation systems, so choice is given, although the OS is BB10.

The OAA initiative will support NVIDIA so we will see Tegra chipsets and QNX will go with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon to power their respective car consoles.
