The Apple Car is coming

They are probably going to take a Nissan leaf, put a brushed aluminium body on it then sell it as an all new mode of transport.

Brushed aluminium would be very nice. Can't wait to see what Marc Newson comes up with

I'm sure they'll find a way to throw in some subscription somewhere along the line

You'll have to buy petrol and tyres from the iStore, and the tyres will be sized in half-inches, so that you can't use tyres made for other cars.

Probably be more expensive than a Lamborghini

*waits for lawsuits against automobile companies, because: Tires, doors, windshield, etc.*

:p :D

I am struggling to get my head around this one. It's a huge departure for Apple in an industry they have absolutley no experience with. I'm not sure how advisable this is.

let us just be 100% honest here.

the first model will be a datsun Go.
with rounded corners and a lightning converter to charge the battery that will not be charged by an alternator.

and it will be keyless, you will have to buy the app for your apple watch that unlocks your car.
and a different app on your iPhone that will start the car.

and both those apps will only be available on the latest model of the hardware forcing you to upgrade every year.

oh and dont forget you will need a macbook to open up the gas tank.
and it will have a dashcam with an 8 megapixel camera to help drivers take selfies while driving.

did I mention the one with the Boot will be double the price of the one wihtout?
its the 16l one and the 32l one.

and yes you will need to have an itunes account to buy petrol.

It won't have full multi-tasking either, so that, whenever you turn the radio on, the engine will stop until you go back to it, at which point the radio will stop.

Can't trust a car with integrated Apple Maps.

That's an old issue, it's actually become pretty damn good of late.

I'm not sure how hands on they will be with the actual product. I suspect it would rather be something built by their standard on their behalf.

But you never know. They are the biggest company in the world right now...so delving deeper makes sense.

After all outside their homes where do people spend most of their time? And what do most people upgrade every 3-5 years just like theirs phones every other year?

Their own proprietary parts would be great. The more of the widget they design, the better

Given their size, they need to find whole new industries that can provide the sort of growth they require. I think it is a fishing expedition...could be very interesting

You guys cracking jokes are funny, but you all do realise that Apple actually did up the game in many different fields. Think of the iPod for music, touch screen phones, tablets, App stores.
I'm sure you are all gonna post links of microsoft/blackberry/whatever working on something similar before apple, but the truth of the matter is Apple made it popular, raised the bar, and brought it to the market on a large scale.

Even with Apple music, something most people might not even care about.... it brought competition and other streaming services are now lowering their prices to compete.
So yeah, while I personally don't care about Apple or using their watches or cars, it's definitely a good thing and a lot of advancements will come from it.

All you Apple haters can say thank you, because if it weren't for Apple, Nokia might have still been a thing and android might not even exist.

Yup, they are quick to forget that Android and the likes wouldn't even have been here today if the iPhone didn't make it to market and changed the entire landscape.

The car thing makes sense since at this stage there really isn't much competition. Apple could win that race before it has even started.
