The Audi Thread

Considering the exorbitant price of Audi's a oem price, I was hoping to find more affordable alternatives, similar to how there are reputable name brands like Kenwood for radios. I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Additionally, since the installer will be drilling through my bumper, I'm seeking recommendations for a reliable professional to ensure the job is done correctly. Lastly, I'm curious if opting for an aftermarket parking distance control (PDC) system will have any impact on the existing service plan.
PS
I bought a Garmin dashcam with the expectation that it would provide forward collision warnings. Unfortunately, it only activates at speeds over 50 km/hr and has a high false positive rate, which is quite disappointing. On the other hand, I had Audi install a reverse camera, and I must say, I can't imagine living without it now.

The OEM style will reduce the music volume and play an easy on the ear beeping that changes speed the closer you get. I even had a pic of the car on the NAV screen with 3 levels of distance from the bumber. I also had a reversing camera on the golf which in my opinion can take the place of the PDC as it does a waaay better job than a PDC.

An example: Someone has parked you in. You try and reverse and your PDC is screaming at you that you are at your limit but the camera is telling you you can go another 300mm.

My audi lacks a camera, can you tell?
My Q5 has the same setup. Can choose between 8 or so tones, so you can have seperate tones for the front and rear. even adjust the volume dimming of the radio when in use. Beeps in front for the front sensors and in the back for the rear. If i had the camera it would overlay the distance on the camera.

Im in durbs too.i have elsewin on dvd somewhere ill try find it . My brother is also a ex audi mech, sure he can assist with info

Electric Audi RS sports cars to have distinct character

Audi Sport will ensure 'RS' does not become a trim level; performance EVs to be highly differentiated

Audi Sport, Ingolstadt’s storied performance division, will have a 100% electrified line-up by the end of this decade, including searing-hot, pure-electric successors to its quickest and most potent combustion cars, from the RS3 hot hatch to the RS7 grand tourer.

Audi will “put more focus on the RS brand” over the coming years, according to Volkswagen Group CEO Oliver Blume, building on the hugely successful formula of today’s RS E-tron GT in adding sporting credentials and more purposeful styling cues to its standard models.

Furthermore, the company is dedicated to ensuring that the RS badge doesn’t become a mere trim level. Audi Sport managing director Sebastian Grams highlighted the popularity of the hottest E-tron GT (every third car built is an RS) as a sign that “the world is changing and our target portfolio is changing, so the target customers are changing”.

He continued: “We have to focus also on the new target groups, which are growing up, and therefore we definitely believe that electrification and high performance go really, really well together.”

Done the first service after the engine rebuild (1000km) and the oil still looked nice and clean, aside from some glitter on the filter which was to be expected as the rings and other parts bed in.

I think I will service it again in 7000km to make the intervals a nice round amount again (next one would be at 235'000km) as it's currently on 227'700km

So apparently the B7's overseas had different centre consoles than us. We got the same console as the B6, and the B7 console retrofit into B6's seems to be a popular mod overseas as they are functionally better with more cup holders and better usage of available space.

Are they different for LHD and RHD?

Get body and glass spares on that will be neigh impossible or at extortionate prices, nice car though..
Agreed but the counter argument (kinda) to that is it will not be a buyer‘s daily, it will be a weekend cruiser which means less miles/kilos & less chance of stuff forking out.

@IceQB how is it going with your B6?
Was doing fine until Wednesday, water leak in William Moffet.
Got home to check, turbo coolant hose busted.
Tavcor wants R2500, import from China R550 with shipping.
Just don't know how long it will take.
Still looking locally first for someone stripping or stripped that off.
If by Tuesday I don't find I'll order from China

Just that small piece of rubber sprung a leak, should see if it can't be replaced.
Will strip off later, depending on how much Car Park John's I consume while braai'ing

I know a guy who might be able to help. I’ll send you his details on WhatsApp once I find them. He redid the coolant hoses to my turbo a few months ago.
