The only thing I don't particularly love with the B8 A4 (was the same on the 09 A6) is the silver plastic bordering the screen and speedo... Feels cheapThe interior/dash of the A4 B8 (which includes the A5 and Q5) is so plasticky. It puts me off, I prefer the A4 B7, better materials and more metal.

No test drives? How will someone know if they even want it then? I've driven cars i thought i wanted until i actually drive them... My latest one i didn't test drive before i bought it but was not at all disappointed. (i had driven a car with the same engine and one in the same shape but different engine)
It's the only thing that grinds me about my A5. I was actually talking about it to my wife this evening on our way home. The interior/dash of the A4 B8 (which includes the A5 and Q5) is so plasticky. It puts me off, I prefer the A4 B7, better materials and more metal.

Agreed. There's a decent thread which I'll link to which shows in depth the poor interior quality - misaligned plastic, faux metal, etc.

The main thing I miss about my A6.
The outside is so flipping sexy. The inside is so plastic..
When I start the ignition I tend to forget about it though![]()
Can you chaps actually post some pics? because there is very little "metal" in any cars dash these days; and I do find you critiquing the same manufacturer interesting. Not saying you wrong, mind you, just wondering how much subjectivity is going on here. I for one find the interior of the Audi S3 to be awesome, for example. But the A45 AMG I test drove a week or so ago was even better - imo. Ride was firm though.

It's not necessarily the lack of metal that's the issue but more along the lines of the plastic being used feeling worse than before. The general feel was better on the previous A6 IMO. Though Mike's previous A6 had a very similar dash to the newer A6 I had...Okaaay - the above which goes to show @Mike Smit was talking nonsense? And what I was saying?

As an outsider I have to say the 2004 A6 looks way more classy and less garish inside.2009 Audi A6
