The Audi Thread

Gadgets that it comes with - Cruise control, Rear park assist and the rest of the usual stuff, this one doesn't have a bluetooth car kit which is supposed to be standard in the new ones, but I will have one fitted, just getting quotes

I got another email from Audi centre Cape Town, this time R60k trade-in assistance on the A6. These guys have to be struggling if they're running so many 'promo's' on new vehicles. Unless you absolutely have to have 'new', the demo's make so much more sense.

A6 2.0tfsi R560k, 'less R60k trade-in = effectively R500k(standard spec). Not quite as simple, but it should suffice.
2014 A6 2.0 tdi R420k, xenon lights, sunroof, front and rear pdc.15000km on the clock.

2012 Audi A4 1.8T Multitronic with 72000km's with maintenance plan up to end 2016. R190 000. Is it a good deal? I'll be driving around 10000kms a year, no more. Any help or tips! Thanks

It's certainly getting better, but I still say it's too much if you think about it sensibly. I am only sensible because I have done a fortune of research and looking. To someone who has recently started looking at B8 A4s though, who is not as sensible, it would be a pretty good price.

I assume it is a stealership price? Private would be too high, for me.

What I would look at is if it has LED 'dot' DRLs/facelift, or LED strip DRLs/facelift (not even sure if it is a LED strip, or CCFL or what, it's just what I call it). I would not pay that much if I was getting the former, which I suspect it is. While the dot LED dots look great, the LED strip is just so much more modern and gives the car a much better look. It's the more modern facelift after all. It would stay in date for longer. This is cosmetic and more about my personal feeling.

Since is is such a/relatively new one, the warranty till 2016 is appealing. Much more than a 2009 LED dot DRL facelift model.

If it is indeed from a stealership, I would seriously consider buying private as you have so much safety in the fact that you can easily pull the full service history from Audi/Barloworld with the VIN number. You can check everything that has been claimed against the warranty, for any underlying and repetitive issues.

This ability, to me, puts little value in a dealer's mark-up.

My biggest concern though, to you and myself and others looking at A4s - even B7s - is the imminent announcement of the B9 A4, which will pull down the prices of the B7 and B8. It's going to lose value helluva quickly. That R190k will be R150k sooner than you know it, and then some more. In less a space of time than usual (I think A4s come out every 7 years, bar the facelifts).

B9 is due for launch early next year, I checked in the week.

Thank you for the very sensible answer!! I do agree with everything that you've said. It's a private owner who drives mainly highway. It's the non-facelift model. The Freeway plan from Audi is a BIG plus on this model. I will probably be able to get the price down to R175000 if I fight hard :D

I would give you the same reply @ R175k. It's far too much. The dealers would have offered him R130k trade. Giving him R45k extra is not playing your cards well. R20k at most.

Okay thanks! I tried at R150k but he wouldn't budge. I had a valuation report done though, trade value is R230k

How the hell do Audi only get 88KW from a turbocharged 1.8?

Huh thought u were getting used to the new one...

I am. And I do like the A5. But it just doesn't give me that same awesome feeling I used to get with my A6. Just looking at that vehicle used to induce feelings of pride. Everyone knew how much I loved that vehicle. I don't get that with the A5. The A5 is just a car. The acceleration is insane and the B&O sound is insane.
I am actually concerned that another A6 may not even do it for me.

I'm shocked. How about a '09 facelift model...? Assuming they can find one with all the add ons.

They can't find anything. Even upped my price range from R300k to R350k.
Audi Hatfield won't respond to their emails or return calls. So the one I liked there is not going to happen.
If Audi Airport let me reverse the deal, then I will take my time and hunt for the right A6 - or A7 if I hit a luck.

Bottom line is I don't think the A5 is worth what I paid. I could have gotten better.

I dunno. Maybe my head is just a mess at the mo. Once you've had an A6 though, it's hard for others to compete.

R200,000.

So if they claim that VAT back (no idea), they make R62,000 off the sale. Otherwise R30,000

EDIT : You guys may have heard of webuycars? They often advertise on the radio, so thought I'd give them a go ... offered R160,000, so seems they really pray on the desperate. An automotive Cash Converters

EDIT, AGAIN : And they don't list what it has :/ Quite specced .. active bixenon, Bluebook, auto light/wipers, sunroof, keyless entry, electric seat, rear PDC, Polestar software (approved) etc. Quite a bare advert, USB etc. With the Audi I lost iPod/USB, active lights, folding mirrors and keyless

Maybe give a 2.0 TFSI/TDI A6 a shot? I doubt it would be close though

Being A8s, they are extremely difficult to sell so pricing will probably be very neg
