The Audi Thread

surely a lot more as that is 3 panels with fancy Audi paint. At least 25k unless you go backyard.
R5k excess and insurance takes care of the rest. When my insurance claims from his insurance I will get my excess back.
She is going in on Wed morning for assessment. Will let you guys know what they quote. It's anyways inflated when an insurance claim though.

More importantly , will this repair leave a comment on your vehicle?
Also, I hope your bodyshop does a flawless job because if the color ain't matched properly, your car will always have that accident stain. Sorry to say this and it's not nice but It would have been ideal if that pr1ck marked from front to rear so that the bodyshop worked on the entire side and not just the damaged panels.

Ye - true what you say.

They said it will come to just over R20k. The rear left door is going to be replaced completely.

He guaranteed me that the car will look perfect when done. I will most certainly hold them to that. I don't want any sign left that a tow bar had fun with the left side of my car.

The only panel on the left that will remain untouched is the very front. Both doors and back panel need fixing. Mostly the doors though.

Hi folks,

Im soon to be the owner of an A3.

Has anyone had the shell of their key replaced? My one is not looking so fresh..

What did it cost you?

Daughter just turned 18 so took her to FNB at Karaglen so she could open a bank account.

When leaving, tool reverses out of the parking while I am going past.

my father in law reversed into mine, broken headlight, small hole in the bumper, and a bent front fender ( and who knows what else behind the bumper) is R30k at panel beater

Which A3 are you buying? I'm also considering A3.

Nothing too fancy.. a 2010 1.9tdi Attraction

Not many bells and whistles but it drives really, really nice.

Have you test driven one?

Haven't tested, I'm thinking 2010-2012 1.8T or 2.0T.

2.0T is quite rare in the facelift A3 (late 2008 - 2013), more common in the pre facelift ('BWA' engine). 1.8T is much more popular in the facelifts. Both are great engines with lots of room for play...

Do you think about R200 000 would be a good price for a 2010 or 2011 model.

Yes, for a 2011 - 2012 with sub 90,000km mileage and balance of plan. But you're not getting good value with a facelift, ever. The interior is the same as the pre facelift, so from the inside you wouldn't really notice a difference. The car is 90% the same, just updated front and rear lights, slightly different grille too I think.

I would not advise a facelift be it any model as I am most concerned about value. R200k is pre facelift A5 (2009 - 2012) territory... Which is an A4 coupe (same interior).

Or, A4 facelift (2012 -) territory.

You are right, I checked on um.co.za and everything was the same! The only thing that attracted me to the facelift was the low mileage (40k to 70k). The interior is nothing amazing so the major attraction is the power which as you said is the same as that of the pre-facelift.

Thanks for this advice, I will check A4 facelift prices online although I prefer sportback. Post facelift A3 will be out of my budget.

You are right Postman, I searched and R200k is A4 2012 territory although most are close to 100 000 km mileage. But I would prefer A3 like I said.

I was royally pissed at my colleague who traded in a perfect nick Audi A4 1.8T on a Ford Ranger without even telling me about it for something ludicrous like R128k with super low mileage.

If only he had told me I would have given him a happy 15k more because I knew where the car was coming from.

Pre facelift (LED dot) A5 Sportback might be worth checking out. Or A4 Avant (probably have to be pre facelift too, LED dot). Otherwise pre facelift A3 Sportback 2.0T and pocket +-R75k.

If you like the A4, the A4 facelift (LED strip) will appear the most modern, but the interior will be virtually the same as the A5 and A4 Avant.

Again, it doesn't make sense going facelift if you're after bang for buck, rather a pre facelift A4 (LED dot) and pocket +-R35k.

Retro-fitting 8P front and rear lights in the 2008-> A3 modelspossible?
Google'd a bit but no actual information shockingly enough.
