The Audi Thread

Yah, i hope it doesn't end up only being payment for a very expensive muffin, cappuccino, newspaper, car wash and lift to work :(

That is exactly what you are paying for. It's just an inspection, they wont fix anything, If they find a fault and repairs are required, the bill will be on top of the R2100.

The vehicle is still under Audi freeway plan, so any faults will be covered under said plan at no extra cost. It's a gamble, and as I said, if I had planned things better I could have done as PP said and gone to an indie first and thereafter made an informed decision as to whether to proceed on to paying Audi for the inspection.

To be honest R2,100 isn't terrible, I'd happily pay that for peace of mind as well as convenience.

Apologies for the brief reply... Been a busy day.

Whatever they do, get it all in writing. They will have an 80 point check form where they tick all the boxes etc.

Once you have this, take it to the indie ASAP. Get them to cross check everything. If Audi skimped somewhere, take the indie's report back to Audi and demand the relevant repairs...

I do agree though, R2,100 is not much for peace of mind on a quality vehicle. It will also influence your decision to keep or sell.

I would certainly keep, it's still a great looking car (facelift A3 8P 1.8T), and has plenty room for more power via a software update... If that's your thing.

Duly noted PP. I have the 80-point check form and they detected no issues.

I will see if I can take the car to Wackers, but I am going to have a hectic week next week too :/
Surely though the dealership would not skimp on any checks and would be motivated to find genuine issues in order to bill Audi SA under the freeway plan?

Regarding a software update, I'm thinking this would void the Motorite plan I have?

Btw, does anyone know where can I get metallic type tyre valve covers?

Rather take it, even if you offer to pay them for the hour of labour to squeeze you in on Monday. Use Uber for the rest of the day...

That's what I would do.

Honestly, the 80 point test is rather basic. They inflate the amount (80) to make one think it's thorough.

Wackers are specialists and know what to look out for...

Huge shout out to Auto Service Centre - Edenvale.

My A5's plan came to an end 15k kms ago, so yesterday was my A5's first service at Auto Service Centre.
Damn, they did a good job. Not sure what they did, but it never came back feeling this responsive from Audi Airport.

Those okes are good at what they do!

Just to update...

He had the red jobbie for about a week and then swopped it for the Quattro beast...

Now:

Dammit, S5 in 2-door is a bit impractical for me... S4 would have been perfect. I'll contact him in 4 years' time nonetheless. :p

Both are quattros, both have the same engines.

I've already spent R25k on his old baby, and I might do a few mods now.

Help!

I've been a little lax with making an appointment with my regular service centre (KC Auto) for my Audi's next service, and now they can't fit me in before closing this Friday (and only reopening in about 1 month - 11 Jan 2016).
I've got 800km to go before the service is due (at 145k km), however, I'll definitely be doing way more kms than that by 11 Jan.

Can anyone recommend an alternative service centre, with at least as good a reputation as KC Auto. (PostmanPot recommended KC Auto, and true as bob, they are very reliable and trustworthy)

I'm in Somerset West, Cape Town. Closer to home is obviously better, but anywhere in Cape Town is fine.

I wouldn't stress if you exceed the service interval by a few hundred km, even up to 1,000km.

Not sure about any specialists out that way. But based on the way I maintained that car, I don't think anything 'major' in terms of parts needs to be done. It's probably just an oil and filter change, anyone can do this and shouldn't be more than R1,000 - R1,500.

OK, I've made a plan for you for Friday with my guy in Retreat (little bit closer for you too). Will Whatsapp you shortly.

OMG, you're awesome! My phone went kaput, and I've reverted to the wife's Nokia Navigator... no whatsapp :(

Can you drop me the details in e-mail instead please? Or pm?

No need for a snowplough if you have a station wagon.
