The Audi Thread

So I have been doing some research and the itch has struck to do a Revo stage 1 software update on my A5.

Seems safe enough and no hardware is changed so the warranty side of things should be fine. The gains are expected to be from the stick 155kw to 197-216kw. That seems totally worth it!

My A5 also seems way to quiet for my taste, want to hear that grunt, looks like the best way to get it is just to remove the rear muffler/silencer. Most people say it's best to leave the front resonator as you need the back pressure and that removing it gives you too much noise/in cabin drone.

You guys have some thoughts or experience?

You should so it but you shouldn't have any expectations of warranty coverage.

Any Q7 owners here? I understand repairs will be pricey, but even if you drop another R50k you still have a fantastic car? I commute by bike so just for weekends etc

So I managed to get hold of the local Revo dealer today which explained they work on the import prices of the revo product. A stage 1 tune on the local 95 octane will see gains from stock 155kw to about 185kw and comes with a price tag of around 5.5k but they recommend doing the downpipe and stage 2 software for another 3k to get to over the 200kw mark. Any thoughts?

Which model do you drive?

If you've got the B8 2.0 TFSI, I'm selling a K&N Typhoon intake that adds around +-10kw and brings out the dump valve sound.

If you can afford R5,5 you can do R8 as well. Sounds like a cheap way to have a completely new car ito performance. Let us know how she drives

Why are you selling? If I recall you only received it a few months back?

Yeah, received it in Feb/March. Sold my A4 recently to get something more economical. I can't use it on my new car so I'm looking for someone interested.

People used to turn around in the streets to see where that sound was coming from :D

Bullet proof engine. It's cheap because you will need to buy BP or Sasol.

What's the going rate for an annual service at an Audi dealership on a 2010 A3 1.8T stronic with 70,000km on the clock? Claremont branch told me R1700 last year. N1 branch told me between R2500 and R3000 this year :wtf:

Paid R2000 for the 75000km service on my 2010 A4 1.8T Multi last month at N1. Dealerships are struggling, new sales are non-existent, so they've upped the labour rate to plug the hole.

Wait until you hit the S-Tronic service. R3,700 - just for the oil. I had to do the oil twice in one freaking month!

It's highly specialised oil. Using any other oils will result in the gearbox breaking. It's designed for a life of 300k km but only.if it's maintained per spec.

Cheaper than replacing clutches on a manual gearbox.
