10ppm FTW! Just make sure the oil is VW507 spec. I just get it from the dealer, about R100/l.Hey man. 5,000km in, and the Q7 has been a champ. Have gotten 1,000km from a full 100L tank of mixed mostly city driving. Had to put in 1L of oil recently, and with 5W30 being somewhat less common, all I could find on a Sunday was Total Quartz 9000 from Builders () – https://www.builders.co.za/Automotive/Automotive-Lubricants-&-Additives/Total-Quartz-9000-Future-GF5-5W30-18B-Oil-(1L)/p/000000000000754918. Will probably service with Liqui-Moly Top Tec of which the cheapest I’ve found is R995/5L.
Performance is impressive given it’s huge, and is more than enough to keep me happy. Generally very happy with the 8-speed ZF. Torque is excellent.
Does a great job carrying 7 and even 8 people. The massive boot space with seats folded down has been very helpful. Cabin space, comfort and height are all fantastic.
Very happy with the Bose sound, and the MMI 3G+ is adequate.
Still waiting for the A4…
See you’ve upgraded to a stinky diesel.![]()

Not VW507 though.Which engine do you have in the Q7 again? I am assuming the 3.0 V6 TDi based on that ridiculously good fuel consumption, I normally only get that on the open road.
Have a look at Liqui Moly Top Tec 4600 5W-30, I use that in my Touareg and I am sure it is a lot cheaper than R995/5L from somewhere like Goldwagen.

Anyway, I’ve heard castrol edge is better than liqui moly anyway from independent tests.Maybe it’s 4200 if you need VW507 spec oil?
Have you noticed whether the coolant loss speeds up if you use your heater? I had a minor leak in the pipe going to my heater core. It was fine during the summer when I never used the heater much, but in winter, I noticed the coolant disappearing quicker and quicker. Ended up being a pesky pipe between the rear of the engine and the false firewall that was leaking.
3.0TDI?
I had the same thing on my A7. It went back to Audi twice for the same problem and they eventually found out that it was a gasket on some manifold that was causing the coolant loss. Will get the invoice and see exactly what they replaced..
Shine a torch and look under the intake in between the V where the EGR cooler is. There’s quite a few YT vids of guys removing it and replacing the gaskets and 2 plastic valve thingies, but the main things is to look in the center of the engine and see if there is coolant pooling there. Is there puddles on the floor where the car is parked? Let me try find one.Yeah, it’s a TDI
Crisis, this is probably close to worst case scenario - given no hint of milkshake - and what the mech had described as a potential last resort. Considering its gotten worse with still no sign of where, I'll know soon enough. If it makes any difference, once I started paying attention, I could smell the burning water/steam.
Would appreciate seeing all the components targeted.
Another suggestion was to put in a small amount of radiator stop leak, which should seal it for a while. But given the nature of the engine and it’s operation it’s uncertain whether there would be any long term benefit.
I had no idea these came in a 2.0TDI in a car this size and weight it must be fun,

Seems like we only got the 1.6TDi hereprobably only in Germany?
Never been a fan of the BeetleYeah, I’d imagine just obscene, with a turbo upgrade. Also found out recently the Beetle came in 2.0TSI DSG which we also never got. I’m quite a fan of hidden GTIs in disguise.

Received a call from Sandton Audi yesterday to pick up mine.
Guys VW is also giving away these plugs as well I picked up one from Mccarthy in the West Rand for my GTI yesterday, so let any family or friends with a VW know, free as well. VW does not install it for you like Audi does but its easy , download the app, create a profile and bluetooth to the device connected to OBD2
VW doesnt even ask to see the car or the VIN you just walk in and they give you one so if you looking for a cheap christmas gift for a VW owner
Yes free installation even if your warranty or maintenance plan has expired. I have noneDo you know does Audi install it for free for cars out of maintenance plan? I've contacted my nearest dealership and am waiting to hear what the story is. Will report back what they tell me.
Literally all the do is fit the device to your OBD2 port, switch on the ignition, pair the device to your app and done. Took me under 5 minutes I had the app set up before I went thereDo you know does Audi install it for free for cars out of maintenance plan? I've contacted my nearest dealership and am waiting to hear what the story is. Will report back what they tell me.
Edit: Century City Audi advised they will install it for free for me, the lady there said preferably before years end but she is saying it's not a hard cut off. Will take 15min if all goes well and I register beforehand by downloading the app and logging in.
