The Audi Thread

Thanks, I'll try driving in Drive mode for a while and see what happens to my stats. Sport mode does rev very high if you let it...
Do you have an active redline or a passive one?

To explain I have an active one when I start the car the redline is at 4500rpm as I drive and the tolerances are met the LEDs switch off per 100rpms until it reaches 5000rpms

Perfect
If you go under statics
You get an efficiency score out of 100, if you go into details it gives you the parameters used to calculate these scores,
So mine is as follows :
Engine Speed 100 makes sense Diesel Engine hardly ever rev it more than 50% of its capabilites
Braking is 64 Yes heavy car and I tend to brake hard sometimes
Acceleration 90 which surprises me cause I take off the line like an idiot
Speed 98 again I am surprised
Coolant Temp 60 out of 100 this was concerning me as the previous score was 75 out of 100 and I took into account that the car was doing a DPF regen the day they fitted the device and in regen mode engine run very hot the fan runs crazy but today I get a score of 60 and I was very concern, drove home from lunch run the car hard oil temp got to around 99 degrees which is within spec in fact it was surprising it didnt go higher
Get to my parking bay pull out the Data Plug , plug in my OBDEleven go into live data and pull up the coolant temperature and its states 89 degrees , oil temp has now dropped to 96 degrees. So 89 Degrees for coolant temp is normal for me, am I missing something here? You dont want your coolant too cold cause you want peak operating temperatures

Do you also have the same issue?

I am one of those that this will bug me to get to the bottom of.
Here is mine for comparison

Hey guys,

I have a 1.4TSI A3 Sedan, 2015 model, Stronic. 102,000 on the clock.

Gearbox is giving issues. Best way I can describe is it stutters when shifting up or down, and is a jerky on the change. When coming to a complete stop, feels like its stalling.

I have a motor extender policy. My first point of call will be to get Audi to quote to repair. However in the event its crazy scary bill, any alternate folk you guys have experience with to assist with this kind of job?

First thing I would do before throwing alot of money around is having any scan codes read,

Could be something has simple as a clutch adaptation which not many people do after a gearbox service and its require when you change your gearbox oil

Worse case you looking at Mechatronics thats an expensive fix.

Would have to take it to Audi to get the codes checked right?

If is stutter started after the oil change then most probably adaptation. Mechatronics malfunction when your shifting from reverse to drive does not engage etc.
I don't think it will have any code tho.

When last was it serviced? Did it start this all of a sudden? How is your battery?

Had a longer drive home. Seems much better. But definitely an issue when shifting from reverse to drive. Definite stutter and difficulties getting going. Then pretty much all okay...feels a bit stuttered dropping to first and getting out of first.

Where are you based BTW?

JHB, Midrand

Serviced last year around about September, at Audi. Battery seems okay. Issue just started on the drive back to work after getting some lunch.

The s-tronic was serviced last year? I would take it back there. They must have not done it properly.

Try disconnecting the battery overnight to see if that resets the ECU?

I am think it was a minor oil change service.

Oh, ok, yeah, gearbox service should be every 60k so its a bit early but hey. Maybe find a decent garage to do it for you, I don't trust Audi to give you their best attention.

Maybe replacing the oil and filters in the gearbox might help? Just use the proper stuff from Audi.

Car is driving much better this morning. Not having any of the issues from yesterday. Very strange. Will keep monitoring.

When this happens always leaves me uneasy lol

Wife is considering an Audi. Looking at 2017/2018 model. I'd prefer the 2.0Tdi, but she's also looking at the 1.4TFSI. Not really a car guy, so not sure of any known issues/things to look out for/reliability of these models. Any advice?

Isn’t that 1.4 engine the one that often gets the oil usage problem?
