No it isn’t. This 1.4 okay. No massive known issues as far as I’m aware.Isn’t that 1.4 engine the one that often gets the oil usage problem?

Test drive each one with your wife. Both are very different in driving experience. The diesel, well sounds like a diesel, and is more torquey so would be more peppy than the 1.4 imho but I would suggest getting an auto or else you change gear a lot because of the narrow rev range.Wife is considering an Audi. Looking at 2017/2018 model. I'd prefer the 2.0Tdi, but she's also looking at the 1.4TFSI. Not really a car guy, so not sure of any known issues/things to look out for/reliability of these models. Any advice?
The 2.0Tdi should be more fuel efficient than the 1.4 TFSI and that torque you will get with the TdiWife is considering an Audi. Looking at 2017/2018 model. Oh, A4, then make sure it's not multitronic (CVT). Do they still make those? Thanks for the replies. Test driving a 2018 A4 2.0Tdi tomorrow, and the A4 1.4 on the weekend. Both are around 80k kms
The TDI would be a better bet here , 1.4 carry around the same weight might be little sluggish compared to the 2.0tdiThanks for the replies. Test driving a 2018 A4 2.0Tdi tomorrow, and the A4 1.4 on the weekend. Both are around 80k kms
Try a 3.0tdiThe 2.0Tdi should be more fuel efficient than the 1.4 TFSI and that torque you will get with the Tdi
Been driving and TDI for about 2 years now and I will not go back to petrol
Yeap this CVT requires alot more care and frequent gearbox oil changesOh, A4, then make sure it's not multitronic (CVT). Do they still make those?
My daily is a C7.5 A6 3.0TdiTry a 3.0tdi

Use S mode.My wife owns a 2014 Q3 2.0 TDi with S-Tronic (DSG) gearbox and I just cannot get used to the damn thingWaiting for the turbo to reach boost threshold is one of my issues, the other being how the gearbox behaves with sudden downshifts. It might be my driving style or that I am used to my Touareg but I find it a frustrating car to rive around town.

Yeah, every car is different and you're probably not used to it and with time will start to feel more normal.I do from time to time but then the gearbox holds gears needlessly and downshifts like racekor which is what it is admittedly programmed to do but annoying none the less.
Think that has the S-tronic which is dual clutch, so not a CVT shitbox Multitronic.![]()

It's this one. So anything I need to ask/check for?
Yeah, every car is different and you're probably not used to it and with time will start to feel more normal.
Drop it to S mode at slow speed then D for the rest. Drive it like a manual.![]()
Thats strange the DSG in my Golf 6 GTi and the S tronic in my A6 behave exactly alike. I know on my TDI the gearbox is normally in higher gear and goes through the gears faster because of the torqueMy wife owns a 2014 Q3 2.0 TDi with S-Tronic (DSG) gearbox and I just cannot get used to the damn thingWaiting for the turbo to reach boost threshold is one of my issues, the other being how the gearbox behaves with sudden downshifts. When did you last have the gearbox oil changed?
