Thought we could have a thread for everyone that commutes by bicycle.

Post a pick of your ride and maybe if you cycle past some good views.

Route chats and safety.

Commuting gear like backpack recommendations.

Basically anything cycle commuting related.

Took me a while to get get a route that I can feel safe traveling by cycle. My first few weeks were down some busy roads but lots of up hills.
Found and app called Komoot to help me find less hilly roads to work and it took me through residential areas which is pretty quiet and safe. I only use my car to go to work when it rains these days.
 
I would take my bike to work, but it's would be a bitch to cycle from my bedroom upstairs to my desk downstairs.

Hubby used to cycle to work, but has since changed jobs and now takes the train due to the distance. Cape Town by the way. I don't think I would cycle anywhere in Joburg/Pretoria.
 
I don't trust South African drivers but if the route isn't on busy roads I’d do it.
It would be awesome on an ebike, enjoy some time outside, get some fresh air and some exercise but not get sweaty af.
Ebikes have been around long enough now that you can get some amazing deals secondhand, still not too cheap though but what a jol riding them.

I'm lucky that we have showers at work otherwise I would not have done it. I get sweaty af as well.
