the big a :mad: where do i start.ok here goes i had java runtime enviroment on my harddrive.it was installed so i could view java prgrams onthe net,but one day avg came along and said that ther is a trojan in the java files.so i went to that location where the trojan was and i deleeted the whole damn file,i was frustrated so i done a stupid mistake.well here is the problem.after that i went to control panel in windows xp what do you know there is no java control panel,ok.then i tried to uninstall java.this did not work because the j2re is in the add and remove programes list but there is no uninistall tab,but it saye there 120 mb rarely used.now im pissed.i go to regedit and delete all registry keys to do with java runtime enviroment plugin.ok now i want to install a fresh one.right i download of the net the program i go to set up now the setup tells me that it cannot install because a previous version is still on my pc"please go to add/remove programes to delete previous version"i go to the add/remove,what do you know its still in the list but still no uninstall tab. right now i send email to java .com.they send an email about a couple of solutions.i try this and still cant install javaruntime enviroment.some sites require me to have java so now i cannot view sites like this ,i cannot install limewire cause the java plugin failes .so this is it,in all my expierience of 15 years in pc i cannot fix this .i dont know can anyone help me cause my last option is to back up my drive reinstall windows/theninstall java.the problem is that i must back up 120gigs of info.where the f@#$# must i put all my files.so if some one has a solution and this works you will get a 50% on any of my product on my site www.dbm8.com .but remember this is to fix the j2re. :mad:
 
giggle. Had almost eggzaktlee the same problem. Installed J2RE on a different machine and put the directory's back (By copying from the other machine) and ran the uninstall. I didn't remove from the registry though, so, this probably won't work.

I think the trojan you're referring to is the Java classloader. My F-prot anti-virus has also identified that particular class as malicious code which is unfortunate as it's completely legit and as you pointed out, the JRE won't work without it.
