My upgrade is due on the 1st of June.
S8+ seems the logical choice coming from a Note 5.

G6 is also a good contender as I'm using a G4 too and really like the phone.

Is the S8+ really worth the extra R200 per month?

That's really up to you, but personally, no.

Why not just keep the Note5 and replace the G4, with a G6?

I've had the Galaxy S range from the S3 through to the S6. Thanks but no thanks the next time around. Severely overpriced for the feature set. Samsung is awfully slow at releasing new firmware and bloat is also horribly frustrating. Nope. I'll wait to see what the Nokia 5 comes in at. Good spec and pure Android.

I am also going up to the G6 from the G4. I love my G4. By the time I upgrade the price of the G6 will be very attractive.

I am using a G6. I upgraded from a G4.

I was standing in store and I had the options of either.
I had watched endless reviews. and up until the day I was unsure what I was going to get.
I said if something does not change my mind drastically, I will wait and do more research.

then I held an S8 (not the plus)
it sat fine, but working the screen was strange, akward reach, and the phone did not grip nicely in hand.

then I held the G6.
and I upgraded on the spot.
the G6 is the most comfortable phone to hold I have ever felt.
the price difference was not the desider for me, for me the G6 felt better.

honestly, play with both phones and make the call. both are very nice, and feel super premium. but how it feels in your hand is your own call.

that being said, yesterday my wife's brother got the S8+
it feels much better in hand, and even though it is bigger, it sits more comfortably for me than the S8 did.
but the reach for the fingerprint scanner is really really uncomfortable. I do not regret my dessition at all.
but if I had to go for an S8 or an S8+ the plus is miles better IMHO.

You don't want to wait a couple of months for the Note 8?

Seems like replacing a Note with a S is a bit of a downgrade.

Well the S8 is a great phone so if you need a bigger size screen then the S8+ is a good choice. Is it worth the extra R200 well that is another story.

I played with the P10 Plus a bit this weekend at Huawei since I was going to take that device with my upgrade instead of the S8 I got not simply because stock of the P10 Plus is limited.

The P10 Plus is a nice device too. Smooth nice screen and very decent camera. it's also bigger than my S8 not by much but is bigger. Maybe pop into a store and get a hands on experience with the device as GSM Arena give you specs not the real feel of the device.

Also agree couldn't of said it better

I got the G6 today.

I looked at the S8/S8+ too and while the Samsung OLED screen is spectacular I really just don't like the curved screen. That is literally the only reason I didn't get the S8+ in the end, if they sold a regular flat one with nice grippy sides then I would have gone S8.

The wide angle lens is also something on the G6 which I've instantly fell in love with.
