With the World Championship starting again I figure it's time for a darts thread on this here forum.

It's been a big year in the darts world with the Luke Littler effect boosting darts awareness, and grassroots participation, to new highs.

For this year's WC I figure it's between one of the two Lukes again - pity that they're scheduled for a semi match up and not the potential blockbuster final.

It's been a decent first couple of days of the 2024/25 WC with the first nine-darter in a couple of years, and a big upset with the second seed knocked out in his first match.

South African, Cameron Carolissen, is up next. Going to be a tough match against one of the up and coming stars.

The 17yr old wunderkind set a new record for the highest ever set average during his opening round last night. He averaged 141 for the set.

It's been carnage for the seeded players. 11 of the 32 seeded players have lost their opening matches, although all of the top 10 have made it though.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Two top 10 seeds were knocked out in the final session of opening matches. That leaves 14 seeds out in their opening rounds.

Tournament breaks now until Friday evening.

And so we get the dream final* - the best player of the previous generation up against the 17 year old prodigy. Who will reign supreme?

*Luke vs Luke would've been blockbuster, but the draw didn't allow it.

I watched last night and a few other nights previously, I don't follow darts but I was instantly hooked.

It must be a great experience being in the crowd at one of these matches.

People tend to laugh when I tell them about darts. Until they watch.

Luke Littler, 17, becomes youngest world darts champion after beating Michael van Gerwen in final

Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler has won the World Darts Championship after beating Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace.

Littler, who lost in the final last year, was the pre-tournament favourite after winning 10 trophies this season.

Their big showdown appeared too close to call going into the match, with both players in fine form and thrashing their respective semi-final opponents 6-1.

But Littler took the title and the £500,000 prize in front of a raucous London crowd, becoming the youngest world darts champion and winning by 7 sets to 3.
