Same reason S Koreans aren't flooding luno - changing local fiat needs an exchange dealing in that local fiat. The SK exchanges offering 1 btc at +$4000 are the SK equivalent of luno - except they're dealing with massively more demand.

I'm sure banks can find a way around this, but I hear you.

Well that and you need to be a citizen of Singapore to trade on their BTC exchanges

I guess I better start applying for South Korean citizenship then :D

They moved it by 3 days to 20th of June, not sure why. It does look interesting, and I will participate. It will be the 2nd last ICO I will be involved in because of lack of funds :(. The last one being Civic on the 21st of June 2017.

Nice! I will be attempting to get my 0.1 ETH into the ICO today, I think it could be awesome if enough people use the platform..
I like the Civic concept as well, maybe a 0.1 ETH there too however.. feeling the lack of funds too, roll on Saturday :)

Serious Request. Don't laugh.

Anybody that's "crypto savvy" in JHB (East Rand) willing to give up an hour of their time in exchange for as many beers as they can drink - and some assistance to somebody that appears to have lost all his cryptocurrency (ETH and BTC) that was in his Jaxx Wallet?

Not sure if I've made a noob fck up or what.

I transferred my BTC from Luno to Jaxx. So far so good.
Then transferrerd the BTC in Jaxx to ETH in Jaxx. All good there.
Left the ETH to grow. Which it did diligently.
Then I wanted to cash some in...
So I sent the ETH (in Jaxx) to my BTC using the Shapeshift onboard (slow confirmation speed).
A week later - nada. Nothing showing.
Sent a query to Jaxx citing all the issues - they haven't gotten back to me 4 days later).
On the online query form I had to quote Transaction Id's etc etc etc.

Then this morning (still no BTC showing) I went into my ETH folder and the balance shows 0. With a transaction showing from last night (at 21H50).

Confused AF and losing hope/interest in cryptocurrencies as a result. Looking to have somebody clued up talk me through what I've done wrong.

PM's welcome.

Perhaps you should contact ShapeShift as well, see what they have to say

Also, be patient, from reading this https://decentral.zendesk.com/hc/en...-turned-up-in-the-target-wallet-What-do-I-do- it seems that maybe your funds have been sent to ShapeShift (which is why you have a 0 balance) - it may take time for ShapeShift to convert your funds and then send you the BTC

The problem is: I took 50% of my ETH and moved it to BTC (with the intention of cashing it out via Luno). That transaction hasn't been processed.
But my ETH balance stayed at 50% until last night. Now the balance of my ETH has also vanished... Have reset the cache on the app. Still nada....

For the transaction I did on the 13th yes.
And also one for a transaction that happened last night that I didn't initiate.

Can you find the transactions using a blockchain explorer? If you know the transactions were confirmed and you have the seed phrase just restore the wallet in another client.

Murky waters or just opinion ?

EXPOSED: The Secret Scams of Coinbase, Bittrex, Kraken, and BTC-e

Bitcoin climbed to a record high this past Sunday of 3,041.36, according to CoinDesk. Then suddenly the next day, plummets to $2,532.87, while ethereum and technology stocks also dramatically declined.

By 9:00 p.m. that night, it had drastically recovered back up to $2,721.

At the same time this drop was occurring, two major bitcoin exchanges: Coinbase and BTC-e, who account for 23% of the bitcoin market, also went offline, preventing investors from being able to manage their currency.

Purchasing bitcoin via Luno is unacceptably expensive for me. If I have enough funds, I will purchase another way.

For example, currently (as in right at this moment)
- To purchase 1 BTC at Luno costs R36385.
- While 1 BTC is $2600
- With an exchange rate of R12.8 to 1$, that is R33280.
- That is a difference of R3570.
- That means it costs 10.7% more to purchase BTC at Luno.
I understand that it is an exchange and it's not Luno's (the company) fault that other sellers will only sell at R36800 instead of R33280.

Currently (as in right at this moment)
- To purchase 1 BTC at Luno costs R36385.
- While 1 BTC is $2614
- With an exchange rate of R13.25 to 1$, that is R34636.
- That is a difference of R1749.
- That means it costs 5.05% more to purchase BTC at Luno.

BUT, if the Rand/Dollar exchange rate was (let's say) R13.92, then:
- To purchase 1 BTC at Luno costs R36385.
- While 1 BTC is $2614
- With an exchange rate of R13.92 to 1$, that is R36385.
- That is a difference of R0.00
- That means it costs 0.00% more to purchase BTC at Luno.

So, the weaker the Rand gets, the less screwed I feel when I buy bitcoin from Luno :). The stronger the Rand gets, the better one can make money doing cross border arbitrage trading.

It’s Official: Japan Has Eliminated Tax on Bitcoin, Rise in Trading Expected

Japan’s tax reform bill which officially eliminated consumption tax on the sale of Bitcoin came into effect on July 1. Bitcoin trading activities are expected to rise in Japan following the activation of the bill.

In a report entitled “Japan: Inbound Tax Alert, 2017 Tax Reform Proposals,” Deloitte previously revealed that virtual currencies including Bitcoin were set to be exempt from the eight percent consumption tax in Japan.

Deloitte’s report read:

“The supply of virtual currency will be exempt from Japanese Consumption Tax (“JCT”). Currently, virtual currencies such as Bitcoin do not fall under the category of exempt sales, and as a result, the sale of virtual currencies in Japan have been treated as taxable for JCT purposes. Following the enactment of the amended Fund Settlement Law in May 2016, which newly defined “virtual currency” as a means of settlement, the sale of virtual currency as defined under the new Fund Settlement Law will be exempt from JCT. This change will apply to sales/purchase transactions performed in Japan on or after 1 July 2017.”

14 June 2016.

Probably a dedicated Miner/trader. He has a current 400+ balance but has received and sent 35000BTC in the past year. Seems to create 12BTC every few hours and then sells/moves it every other day or so as per blockchain data.

Interesting stats tho.
